A couple more supports and a few screws - hoping it will buff out the stains and there it is a new stainless steel step.

The glamor shot - did I say how much for a stainless steel screw - 55 cents

If it wasn`t for the screws - it was all made from scrap.

Re: 84 Thomas - The Yankeflyer

I know we`re out there on world wide web - so it comes with the territory - but what a tiresome bunch these scammers are. Craigslist has some good deals every now and then but it has become such a cespool.
My response to the original message-

Avoid scams and fraud by dealing locally! Beware any deal involving Western Union, Moneygram, wire transfer, cashier check, money order, shipping, escrow, or any promise of transaction protection/certification/guarantee. More info

Re: 84 Thomas - The Yankeflyer

We paid cash for our bus ($1400, all $20's ). I expect to be paid cash for something I sell. We sold the pop-up camper for cash, sold the cargo trailer for cash, sold David's pick-up truck for cash. I just don't trust anyone who says they don't have the time to come look and won't plop cash in my hot little hand. We own all our stuff so if we sell it, the title is going with it. That means green folding stuff is the only thing we take in return. And we listed our stuff as such... CASH ONLY, NO CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS. Weeds out a lot of "only looking" folks.

CraigsList needs to police those ads a tad better. I have run across many "scam" ads selling something that is listed as one town and the same listing is scattered all across the country.

Re: 84 Thomas - The Yankeflyer

I absolutely refuse to deal in cash for anything over $500. It's essentially an invitation to get mugged...seller posts an item, seller says he only takes cash. You show up with $1500 to buy a car, seller and his two friends pound you to a pulp with metal pipes and split the cash. If you're lucky, they won't decide to cover their tracks by killing you or kill an hour or so with a gang rape. I will use money orders (from the Post Office, usually), never cash.

PO money orders can and do get forged. I remember my Mom's last vehicle she bought in FL (West Palm). She had $20K in her purse. You can get great deals at a car dealership if you say... how much in CASH? My parents always paid cash for their vehicles. We try to do the same. We buy our cars from the auto auctions... that's CASH not checks.

It's really what you are comfortable with. If you are jumpy carrying $10K, then folks will notice it. I just make sure I don't put my backpack/purse down. Believe me, we don't look like we have any $$.
