That is really good advice. Sometimes I need to do a better job heeding it!

We should take care that we don't get too amp'd up and transform into insulated cells with short tempers.

Gosh, I don't view the threads for a day or two and I can't stay current on the postings.
I do get a charge out of Malkieri's alternate insulator, though.

I have to agree. Whenever someone tells me a bit of advice based on their statistical sample of one, I question it. I don't normally spit venom right back in their face until I've researched it (and I always research it), but I do try to stop the spread of ignorance when I can.
What really gets my goat is when that same person then tries to disprove my careful research by retelling their personal anecdote as evidence that science and facts are wrong. This never ends well. For them.

What does this have to do with placing batteries on the ground to watch them discharge, oh sorry we hijacked your thread.
Nice outlet.

Exactly why I bowed out of that particular soon-to-be-argument, but some insist on making it a federal case...
What I can vouch for is the fact that when I worked at AutoZone, we had a special on DuraLast top-post batteries of a certain size group. They were stacked on the concrete floor as a display. EVERY SINGLE ONE of the batteries on the bottom row (that sat on the CONCRETE) had problems. None of the others did. Can anyone EXPLAIN that? Call it what you want. Agree to disagree. Back to the OP's build... What's new?

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI
Likewise here...a buddy owned a half dozen motorcycle shops and learned the same "phenomena" the hard way. For whatever reason, batteries discharge when they sit on concrete floors. Seems counter-intuitive since the cases should act as insulation but it happens all the same. Any rocket scientists out there know why?

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI
For what it's worth, Snopes has never shown credentials of any sort, shown that any real research is done, who (if anyone) actually checks the facts, nor do they provide proof of why the subject matter is "proven" or "debunked". C'mon, folks, even Mythbusters at least runs a real test and shows scientific evidence to back up their findings. Anyway, I don't think the OP is getting a charge out of this, nor do I think it turns them on... "Type faster, I hear off-subject arguments..."

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI
I created a topic on the subject of batteries and concrete floors. I think any further posts about the subject should be entered there so this poor man can have his conversion thread back.
MYTH or FACT: Storing batteries on concrete floors
