I like the idea of using the metal 90 degree strip as the attachment for upper cabinets to the ceiling. hmmm.

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI

i did more work on the cabinet. the plywood was bowed so i made things more difficult on myself. the one next to the cabinets wasn't a problem as the cabinets straightened out the bow one it was screwed down, but the stand alone one on the other side was a pain i should have used studs, i would have lost some space but it would be easier. i cant wait to get the fridge and microwave and converter in there.

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI

i completed the first shelf that will hold the fridge. it is strong as hell, i think i overdid it. I'm using the chair rail as part of the support. i can stand in it and jump up and down and it doesn't even creak. once i line it up. cut the vent holes. bolt it down i can add the shelves in for the microwave and power converter, then the plywood front.

i also took a meter to my power converter and figured it out. all DC and AC works. however one of the romex wires remained energized as it was bypassing the breakers. im not sure why they did that. i began removing the romex and replacing it with 20 Amp computer power cable wire, im looking for 30A wire to replace the power input romex with.

i tested it by temporarily hooking up to 15A

1st computer power cable:

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI

i built a 30A power cable tonight out of 2 used pieces. i had a 30A cable and plug, and i also had a Marinco weather tight connector with a cut cable piece inside it. the hardest part was removing the yellow rubber boot to get access to the connector. i ordered a new Marinco input socket that this connector fits into to be installed in the side of the bus

i finished up the AC wiring to the Converter. the yellow wire is 10AWG 30A AC wiring.the wires going out are 20A computer power cord wires, 12AWG. now i need to clean up the DC fuse box and wiring install the converter box and outlets for it and it should be good to go.

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI

I cleaned up the generator today some. what i thought was pitting was some kind of traction paint that was sprayed onto the generator at some point in the past. i didn't get it all off but its a good start. the paint came off easy with steel wool, the grime with alcohol. now i can see what I'm working with a little better.

Just a suggestion--though I imagine you would do this anyway. Change the oil, clean out the float bowl and make sure the float and needle valve are working and before putting the new spark plug in add a couple of tablespoons of either diesel or auto trans fluid to the cylinder, hand crank it 5 or 6 times and wait over night before replacing the plug and trying to start the genny. The oil helps dissolve the rust that forms on the cylinder wall when the engine has sat for a long time. It won't take much rust to catch a ring and break a piston land and you sure don't want that to happen!

Thanks Trunt,
i will definitely clean out the carb and change the oil, air filter plugs etc. the generator has been turned over and was running at the RV surplus place, and a couple more times as they were demonstrating it to me, so any damage that was done probably happened at that time. so i should do a cylinder pressure test. good news is i have seen it produce electricity (incandescent light bulb), and they stated it powered up the whole RV they took it out of with both AC units running. i may need to fix the switch on the genny itself as that isn't working only the remote switch.

Sounds like you should be OK then--I guess I thought the genny hadn't been running in some years and therefor might have rusted up, glad that wasn't the case.

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI

i built a duct from sheet metal for the refrigerator and installed it in the cabinet and installed the fridge. the heat from the refrigerator is coming out of the upper vent as it should. this was a real pain. every time i screwed something down like a side of the sheet metal something else would get out of alignment. i need to increase my sheet metal knowledge. screwing down the refrigerator screwed up my alignment for the front where i need to install the cabinet face. ill figure out something about that later.

looking up from the bottom vent at the upper frige coils inside the duct :

here is a photo of the refrigerator installed with duct. needs insulation and a front for the cabinet.
