Those tanks are 4 feet tall. No way you have enough clearance. Try a 55 gallon poly drum on it's side. Those are strong as hell and cheap, like free or $5-10.

thanks, you are right, there are a couple people locally that have plastic 55 gallon drums. i wonder if they make fittings that screw into the existing bungs?

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI

they are being sold because they are using the new plastic tanks that have a plastic enclosure for support..
i have some of the tanks as pictured also, but am not using them.
they could be made into grey or whatever tanks, but they would have to be cut down, and a new top made.
for hauling stuff in a trailer, if you remove the plastic tank, they make really good boxes by using the metal exterior as the box.
besides the 55 gal food grade barrels, they also make 30 gal ones that are used for stuff like syrup at the pepsi bottleing plant close to here.

One of the holes is coarse thread and the other is fine. PVC threaded fittings work on the coarse I think. It's been so long I don't remember.

I think that's correct but the 2" have different threads. Not sure why. Probably means getting one fitting at Home Depot and the other from a specialty supplier.

thanks guys, i will pick up a few of these barrels. one for fresh, one for Grey and one for black. i imagine i will have to cut extra holes for the black tank and glue the fittings in. for that.

Re: 87 Wayne Lifeguard international S1700 CXXVI

i cut some computer chassis side covers to seal up the flasher holes. i only did the rear as i ran out of side covers

i also cut a notch in the counter i bought to fit the chair rail. i need to figure out some kind of bracket to screw into the rail to hold the counter in place

no more gap!!

Light covers turned out good, and the counter installation fits really well. Good job

thanks BrownCrown, i just finished the front flasher holes as well. I had enough computer chassis metal to cut out circles with my dremmel. its not how i wanted to cover them, but it will have to do for now as i am out of old computers

I think that the light covers look great. Awesome job of cutting those circles with a dremel. You certainly have a steady hand.

My hat's off to you, I have never found a good use for those little wheels, if I had tried to do that I would have about 5,000,000 broken wheels and not one circle cut out.

Well........ Let's just call it peach......... sounds good to me!
But it sure looks pink in the picz.

For the price we can live with it, you can always change it later when you get the bus finished/ or almost finished, we are never done.
