Oh it's great to watch the bus drive away down that open country road.
I am finally finished with my setup and plan to start prepping for a drive. Going to take a week to figure out how to secure everything and fasten what needs to be, etc.
Looking forward to driving again. Has been two months since i first drove it home.

Great scene isnt it? I love taking that thing for a drive, even though it may only be a 1/4 mile at a time its enough to keep me going on the project. If i didnt get to drive it while the work was going on i probably wouldve lost the passion to keep going.
Hope your travels go well on your trip!

Yep, and no joke. HF is SLOW! Had her out yesterday to get the blanks for windows I ordered from Blumenthal's Sheet Metal over where Tango has his art shop, BTW gave a "Shave and a Hair Cut" sound out on my air horns as I went by....... LOL! The ONLY time I was able to keep up with traffic was when it rained and everyone ELSE slowed down.......
Yep 45 m.p.h. @ 2K r.p.m. can be a bit stressful on I 19 in Houston.......
So sing it with me........
I can never seem to hit the right key when I sing it.......

or is 2k about all it likes to do?
I dont drive mine fast.. but I do go 60 and feel comfortable on even 70 MPH zones with it...

All emergency light holes are covered, as well as stop arm holes and the rear door window on the bottom. The black trim we had previously taken off to inspect for rust is back on too, the rivet gun worked perfect.

Like into the bus project more then she's into you? I guess that could be better, depending on how you look at it. Mine's into the bus project as well, hopefully as much as she's into me, hopefully not more though, might be a lil weird.

Burlking: I got a 97' Amtran, what do you suppose the gauge of the floor is? What was your original floor's thickness?

Ntrain - Our floors thickness has to be 14ga or 15ga, we replaced wheel well area with 11ga and its beefy as hell.
JA - She's very involved, she has learned how to weld, grind, cut, rivet, bondo, you name it!
Update today: going to go get more bus supplies today. Getting the last of the rivets and seam sealer, the body filler for the emergency holes and the transition, and FINALLY getting the bus sealed up will be done. hopefully this rain only lasts until noon.

Burlking: So you used thicker sheet metal flooring around the wheel wells. Also what size and more importantly thickness did you use for the squarestock? I'm thinking of replacing all the "hat" and c channel subfloor cross members with squarestock.
Also was the original metal floor welded to the walls of the bus in anyway or is the floor only stitch welded to the crossmembers underneath?
Basically I would like to use the same gauge sheet for the floor but use squarestock for the crossmembers and beef up that way.

Not sure if this will really answer your question but my floor has c-channel pieces riveted end to end then the chair rail up top is stitch welded every so often to the c-channels and somehow then the bus ribs that form the shell of the bus are attached to the chair rail and the c-channels i believe (too lazy to go check right now.) Then to hold it to the frame of the bus the c-channels are bolted with these clamp like devices as you see in this picture to the right.
I'd like to say its 1 3/4" X 1 3/4" and 1/16" thick square-stock but honestly i don't remember, my dads fabricating buddy got it for me and it turned out to be perfect. We had measured (with the rubber buffer in place) from the frame of the bus to the bottom of the C-channel pieces for the square-stock then laid the 11ga on top, worked great.
hope this helps somebody.
