95' Thomas "The Knight Bus"

Although i am not new to this website this is my first bus conversion. My wife and I have been wanting to do this for about 10 years and we finally have the means and time. Our sun just turned 1 and we are going to travel and live full time in our bus!

we bought a 95 Thomas Saf-T-Liner ER not sure if i can post a link to the site we bought it from or not but they were awesome! the even helped convert the title to a motor home and with seat removal!

we are super excited to get this show on the road. although the name is not set in stone yet.

we are based in Florida just north of Tampa, looking for property in the smokey mountains. and hope to be able to travel all over the country in or new bus!

Sweet! No short bus for that boy. He's running with the big dogs!

Congratulations and welcome!

Thank you! I did want to go a bit bigger as we are going to be living it it full time! We have a 1988 28' RV that we lived in for over a year, is going to be a donor vehicle.

Congrats on the bus!
Here in FL all one has to do is submit a simple affadavit to change the title to rv.
What's the story of your bus' name? Did you go to UCF?

We're having a roof raising party on the 10th of feb if you wanna come out and meet up with some of us.

No it's actually the name of the bus from Harry Potter. (That's why it's it set in stone) but yeah not sure if the bus will be done by then but we would love to come out. Where will it be?

Rural Apoka/Sorrento. Bus totally NOT required!

I've never been into fictional literature too much, aside from a few classics. I guess that's why the name went right over my head. There are some certain "groups" who call themselves "knights" and was really hoping yall weren't with them!

Seats out finally

The seats are finally out. And we made a rough floor plan. Started parting out the diner rv and things are moving along. Poor old girl has seen her better days.

Started some framing master bed in the back, bunk beds on the left, and laundry/closet on the right.

If there's "a next one" in my future...
It'll be a Saf-T-Liner

Yeah that's the thing that sold me. I was looking at a TC2000 and when we got in it was like I was trapped in a tornado. Same Cummings 5.9 turbo everything. Just a world of difference.

It's worth taking the time to insulate.

Well I pulled a couple of the roof panels out and the stuffing behind them looked ok so I went to a wall and it looked ok. But I plan on "skinning" the walls with insulation before putting on the "finishes" like R-Max closed cell foam on the metal walls, as they are goign to be covered all the way down on both sides. I also looked at tinting the windows, and there is a shop that said they would take on the challenge close by, not sure about price yet but I definitely put thought into insulating. So many people here take off there walls to insulate then cover them with wood or even drywal, why not skip that and have double the insulation. I promise insulation was not forgotten.

To each their own, but since you asked-
Mine was moldy and falling apart. Even if it were pristine, its not really effective when sandwiched between two metal panels in a large, sometimes moving vehicle. A couple inches of foam and some wood paneling goes a long way to make it comfy, cozy, and less like a tin can.
But I have plenty of friends who've done their build exactly like yours and are loving life. So Do as you will. I'm not here to argue!

Well like I said before putting up the walls coverings I plan on putting up some R-max closed cell foam panels.

Can you point me to info for this event? I might just have to take a roadtrip down!
