It's off the ground. You can see the hydraulic ram right behind it. Self leveling.

Re: Best Home Yet
The only leveling that I have is getting the correct sized boards to drive upon.

...Okay, I have a LOT of words but most of it is kinda on the salty (mmmmm, salt) side. So I'm just gonna hide under my housemate's kitchen table and whimper.

Re: Best Home Yet
Hahaha...boards seem to work just fine for me. I'd like to see how much that option cost! To be honest, it would be nice, just to eliminate the "bounce" from the suspension, but meh...who cares.

Re: Best Home Yet
I love the scissor jack idea. And of course you have to carry some blocks as well. But I think overall, this would be a slicker solution than driving up on boards. I'm in the "driving up on boards" stage myself, and I agree the jacks are not at the top of my priority list right now, but that would be really sweet.
Plus, maybe you could use them to jack up a corner of the bus, and get that wheel off the ground if you need to for repairs, like working on the brakes, etc.
You would just have to carry some really big-ass jack stands around with you. I'm hoping to make an under-body storage locker for these kinds of tools.

Re: Best Home Yet
I would just use the bottle jacks to stabilize after leveling it the old fashioned way, actually. I see a lot of people, even with newer campers, level with planks and then stabilize with jacks.

Re: Best Home Yet
I have a 12 ton and a 20 ton bottle jack as well as heavy duty 6 ton jack stands. I will get some substantial boards soon and use the jacks and stands to fine tune my leveling while I am parked here.

Re: Best Home Yet
Bottle jacks can be had fairly cheep if you find them on sale. They work well, but slow and a bit of work if you have to lift any amount of distance. We use them in construction a fair bit. They also come in a air over hydraulic version. This would be a good option for the members with on board air already on their bus.
For safety sake, just like any jack, do not use them to support the load once lifted. That's what the jack stands are for. What I don't like about using jack stands to level something, is the 2.5 inch increments, with no fine adjustability. I like the Scissor jacks because they are infinitely adjustable.
There are also heavy jack stands that have a big threaded rod at the top. Again, this would give you infinite adjustability. This is a 12 ton unit.

Re: Best Home Yet
The stream has become a mini raging river which I cannot drive across.
I SO wanted to go meet my friend, Jamey, at Cracker Barrel to enjoy a great breakfast. I have been dreaming of Cracker Barrel for three years now.
Presently, I am stuck on the property. I was assured that the water will subside in two hours.
Here are some pics.
The good news is that Jamey came to pick me up. There is a foot bridge across the stream. So, I did get to have my dream breakfast. I had eggs made over well, awesome sausage patties, hash browns, and totally great pancakes.
