Re: Best Home Yet

Great postings and you have given me allot of ideas. I would have pulled that awning off of the dodge if you hadn't and installed it on the bus?
Just a thought.

Bullwhacker, I am happy that you have gotten some ideas from my conversion.

I did take the awning off of the Dodge. I wanted to mount it on the bus, but the arms were too tall. I would have had to make some stand-offs and attach them to the roof. More work and fabrication that I am not well versed in. Wood is the medium that I am accustomed to working with.

I sold the awning for a good price.

[dburt, glad to have an old friend from the other site. What is your latest project?]

I am going to bid on a '95 Thomas RE Skoolie with a 3116 CAT engine and about 130,000 miles on it from a local school district. It's a 13 window long bus, very nice, good tires, straight, rust free. Now if I can score that bus for myself, it will be the perfect canvas for my own bus home project. Keep your fingers crossed for good luck for me!

Re: Best Home Yet

I found a car that will match my bus. I just have to paint it.

Re: Best Home Yet

Buses like you describe have been going for about $2200 in WA auctions, give or take a couple of hundred. How much did "your" bus go for? Fewer buses seem to be going on the block now, but in WA the state is going to cut back on subsidies for district bus service. That equals more on the block in a year or two.

There will always be another bus.

Re: Best Home Yet

The bus brought $3,300 which I thought was a tad bit high. The minimum bid was $2,200 so I bid $2,500. At least the other bidder had to leave more then he needed on the table to get it. A couple of years ago the same district sold good buses for about $800-$1,200 and didn't even get any bids the first time they were offered! Don't know why this bus went for so much, especially this time of year! Oh well, I'll keep looking and in the words of the Moody Blues, or maby it was ELO- "I know you're out there somewhere . . . ."

Definitely the Moody Blues... 1988 on the album Sur La Mer and yes, I do have that album as well as many others. I like the Moody Blues.

Re: Best Home Yet

"Sur La Mer"? That's French for "On The Sea"

Here are a few new pics.

This next one is of a beautiful sunrise.
