Re: Best Home Yet
Very nice bus and great stories and pictures!
I also have a 1973 Blue Bird, that I see the construction and windows are exactly the same, even if mine is a 'dog nose' bus.
I wanted to offer that if you make it down this way in your travels I'm very good with metal and have lots of equipment, and would be glad to put you up with a place to stay and weld you a hitch to help you out. I probably have the steel already laying about as well.
Also there is a truck junk yard near me we can probably get a steering box cheap and I can help install it.
Very nice build and keep the stories and details coming!
*EDIT I see that my location isn't listed, so how would you know if you made it down my way? lol. I'm just to the SE of Columbia, SC.

Does that mean you make horses out of metal?
Thanks for the offer of doing metal work. There are so many friendly folks on this site. You surely are one of them.

Close, lol no, I don't build them.
Ferro= Iron
Equin= Horse
Ologist= student of or study of
I'm a locomotive engineer by trade, so that makes me a 'student of the iron horse'

Re: Best Home Yet
Wow, I just finished reading all 40 pages and loved every moment.. From learning about your bus to your pictures and adventure. Thanks for sharing..
If as a total newbie I can make a few suggestions.
1) move the bus every now and then. Leaving it stationary for such long periods of time will ruin your tires and battery's. Also as you found out, it will sink... Especially after the rain you just had maybe move from one side of the shed to the other every three months or so..
2) as for work, it seems your a jack of all trades.. I had a friend print out some cheap business cards from vistaprint online (I think it was $10 for like 100) and he left them around town. On bulletin boards, at coffee shops etc.. He makes a living,not steady persay but he chooses the jobs he wants to do and pays the few bills he has. Might help you make a few extra bucks.
Again thanks for sharing your life with us

You surely had time on you hands to read my entire thread.
I am glad that It was of interest.
Tires? They are still in good shape. Batteries? They were dead last year. I had to put a charger on them just to get to where I am now. The batteries are probably very old. They are two big (8D?) batteries. I do not think that I will be moving this bus for a long time.
Currently, I am recording some old Country music at my friend's studio. Any of you readers who may want to hear some songs, just ask, and I will email you some mp3 files. email address is rootseller333@gmail.com

Re: Best Home Yet
I'm going to give my friend a plug for his music. I've gotten some and I love it, listen to it regularly.
Accordion my friend, you have talent +++! and not just with music, I've seen those 40 pages of the bus build and I love those too and will admit to being jealous of your talents.
Keep in touch and keep making music, its beautiful
HUGS

Re: Best Home Yet
Thank you so much for your presence in this community. We're in Nashville right now; just got our bus recently, and are in the "ripping out the seats" and "finding a place to park" stage. Well, actually, we have found a place to park it while we work on it, but we have to pay rent for a house while we do that. Not that we HAVE to pay, but it's a pretty cushy situation: secluded location north of town, large garage (for storage of tools and materials) in front of which we can park the bus, space for a garden... Once the bus is finished, I look forward to never paying rent again.
Again, thanks for sharing your bus!
