I love your progress!!!
Where did you find the door latch? Is it an online find or somewhere local? and what was the price?
I am going to relocate my door and build a custom, but havent found a latch i like.

You will love it. Really easy to install. Get a decent cut off wheel for the grinder if you got one. Makes the cuts really easy. And the lip makes any cut that is a little too big really easy to forgive. I am hoping to finish out the door framing tomorrow. There are so many projects going on in the bus right now I get a little overwhelmed. I have 2 weeks to finish now. So much to do, so little time.

Re: Bike For The Light Skoolie
I am going to put it on a shelf until next spring when the snow melts off my bird. Then, I will be moving my door to right behind the front wheel and giving the love of my life her own area next to me. This does two things: 1. It gives her a place to call her own right beside me, which is where she has always been in life. And 2. It makes it a lot easier for me to see the hand coming towards the back of my head when I say or do one of the numerous thinks that have earned me a smack now and then for the past 25 years.
Self preservation is the key!

Re: Bike For The Light Skoolie
Another long day. Got the wall behind the cabinets painted. Then installed the cabinets.
I put installed the tv mount above the cabinets too. The cutouts on each side are for cables to run through behind the cabinet.
I made my own sink for the living area. I got a pump faucet last week and was looking for the right sink. I found it at wally world. It is a roasting pan. Slops to the bottom gently. Got the drain mounted in it, and cut out the hole in the counter top for it. Dont have it all installed yet. That will happen tomorrow.
Now I am tired. Gonna watch some olympics. Whew. Too much to do.

Re: Bike For The Light Skoolie
So today was good. Nice weather out lately. Starting to clean up all the trash outside the bus. Have a painting party this Sunday, so hopefully Gracey is close to painted by the end of the party. Was going to spray her, but have run out of time and am just gonna be foam rolling/brushing on rustoleum I guess. Any suggestions from guys who have done it?
Today I got a couple of the surround sound speakers mounted.
Got the sink all mounted in the counter.
Got the cabinet underneath it built. It has the grey water tank under it. The freshwater tank is in the cabinet to the right of it.
Turned out really well, and I am excited how it looks.
Well, I am tired and heading off to bed. Lots more to do tomorrow.

Re: Bike For The Light Skoolie
Johnny, you probably have already thought about this, but are your grey water tanks able to hold more than your freshwater tank, so it won't overflow. I am going to be doing the same think as you. Using a 7 gal fresh water tank and an 8 gallon grey water tank. Getting them both from walmart. The 8 gal one you can only get online for some reason. I noticed you are using two grey water tanks, how will you know when to switch? Are you just gonna check them every few days.
I just figured when I was out of fresh water it would be time to empty the grey water.
Just thought I would add my 2 cents.
Bus is looking great How was the wedding cake testing?

Wedding cake ruled. So excited to eat it for real. Haha. As for the tanks, they are both 7 gallon tanks. I will probably just check it every few days, or just put like 6 gallons of freshwater in. Not really worried about it. We are in places to fill up the fresh and dump the grey everyday when I am on the road.

Re: Bike For The Light Skoolie
Well I am tired guys. But good news. I have a week to finish up Gracey and was scared I wouldn't get her painted on time. So I had some friends set up a painting party today. Had about 16 people show up. Got the first coat done on the whole thing, and a second coat on a lot of it. Still have touching up to do, and all the bumpers and highlight stuff. But she turned out pretty good I think. Also got the interior nearly all painted. Don't have any pics of the interior though. Got too dark to take pics. We used an high elastomer paint. Not the longest lasting option, but I only need this paint to last for the next year. Will get a new paint job next year. It is a high gloss and looks great. It is self leveling and real thick. I pressure washed the bus a couple days ago. Then I took some 400 grit and an orbital, and roughed it all up. The white paint that was on it was put on before with a sprayer and old and dulled, so it was a great primer. Took some mineral spirits and wiped it down before painting with foam rollers. Went on really well. Here are the shots from the day.
My buddy Brian taping off the ceiling inside. Unfortunately this is the only shot of the interior. Will have more shots from the inside tomorrow.
My driver Jared painting a lovely shade of hot pink.
Painting the roof. First half is done. I did the paint up there pretty thick so I should only have to do one coat up there.
Some of the girls (Stacy and Nikki) painting the side. View from the roof.
My other friend Brian painting the side. View from the roof.
Roof done.
Here she is with the first coat done. Looks kinda like a Miami Vice shirt. Haha.
More tomorrow.

Awesome looking paint job. A painting party is a fantastic idea. I will have to figure out how to recruit painters come time to paint my bus.
