If you are, I would get rid of the original windows. They are made of aluminum and transmit heat and cold really bad. They also leak air like crazy.

The were made so poorly they didn't even do the job in the school bus. Something much better needs to be invented for buses from the factory.

we will be insulating the bus. we want to put at least another 6 inches of insulation. im going to do 20 inches on the roof raise so we should have plenty of head room. as far as the windows go we dont have a lot of time and money so we will be removing some for good and sheet metal over the hole. down the road we will replace them.

they will spray foam your bus for 1500. if you drive it there. there are many roof raises here, stagger your cuts on the roof/ window posts for more strength. make sure its nat approved

I will bet you probably have a Cummins or a Cat. Post a picture of the top of the engine when you get a chance.

Is it a yurt? I looked into one years ago for our Prince Edward Island property. I worried about life expectancy of the materials. I do love the idea of a yurt though.

I would agree with CrazyCal your engine is most likely not a DT466.

Most of the TC2000's had Cummins engines and a few with Cat engines.

Most of the early ones had 12-valve 5.9L 6BT Cummins with later models getting the 24-valve 6.7L ISB.

The Cats would be 3116/3126 or C7.

The DT466 is too long and too tall to fit into your engine compartment without a lot of modification.

No its not a yurt but I almost bought a yurt before I bought my tipi. It was a kit house that was built back in 93 its got a foundation with basement and it is probably about 1500 sq feet, two bedroom, 1 and half bath. We have to get the inverter for the solar fixed so it will be about like living in the tipi.

sounds good I will try and find out more about it and get some pictures in the next week. I just went by with what the guy said and that was the only reason he said he bought it for the 466.

Do tell with details. You can pm me since yurt is off topic. Is it in virginia as well? Is it still available? One with a basement might be a good option as a fair weather place while traveling. Is there any regulation about what is parked on the property (the bus of course)?
