BOZO WITH A SKOOLIE!!!!!!!

Hi folks!! After trying to get my account activated the last couple of days, I can finally join this great bunch of people. (The activation email was in my spam folder)

Anyway, I'm from Mass and last Saturday me and a buddy went to look at a 91 International BlueBird DTA360 190K about 2 hours into New Hampshire. They were asking $1,300.00 Good price. But it ended up being a rot box. So we had a back up plan to stop at BUS & CHASSIS LLC in Brentwood NH on the way back. Lots of skoolies on the lot! Great family run operation too! I would recommend them if anyone is looking for a skoolie!

Actually they have a nice deal on some 99 International Bluebird conventionals with the 444E, hydraulic brakes and just over 100k for $2000!! Great buy! They are quick!

So I actually found a bus way in the back, a 92 International BlueBird Conventional 77 passenger, factory tinted windows, DTA360 with 191k for $2250. The rear undercarriage is a bit rusty and scaling from sitting a few months. It might sound crazy. But I actually like this bus better than the 99's. I like the old school dash and OF COURSE THE DTA360!

Now a little about what my purpose is for it.

Me and my girlfriend have a part time concession business and we travel a bit, so I was thinking this would be a great idea for a camper so we don't get croaked on hotels. Just like most everybody, we toyed with the idea of a RV but I like the idea of the rugged chassis, body and being able to personalize it the way we want it. Besides buses are more fun!

I am also a transit bus mechanic and drive school bus part time, so I have a bit of a head start which will help. I've just never really done carpentry before. Thats what I'm nervous about.

Well enough of the chatter and let me post some pics!

Congrats! I actually have dibs on an IDENTICAL bus here in Wisconsin for only $750. She is going to be crushed in one week if nobody buys her. Unfortunately I'm lower than broke right now.

Well, so far my superiors have not said anything about working on our own stuff once in while at work. So hopefully I can keep doing what I am doing.

Are you refering to the DTA360? If so, that is a MUCH better engine than the 444.

Re: BOZO WITH A SKOOLIE!!!!!!!

I know what you mean about the smaller motor. But it is a much better motor. And I actually like the older dash setup (91 & older) on the bluebirds.

Of course the better deal would have been the 99 bluebird international for 2k. But I really liked this one.

Re: BOZO WITH A SKOOLIE!!!!!!!

Little bit of progress on day 2 and 3. I only have a few hours a day during the week to work on it in between my 2 jobs. Some grinding, tearing up the rubber and some of the plywood.

Re: BOZO WITH A SKOOLIE!!!!!!!

I'm thinking I probably will take out the side wall panels and put in some insulation. I think the best thing to do None of the windows will be taken out or blocked with sheetmetal. I think it takes away from the look of the bus too much. I still need to do a floor plan.

Re: BOZO WITH A SKOOLIE!!!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the windows smitty. So much for having a lift to work on. I was giving a written warning at work because of that Saturday I brought the skoolie in and put it on the lift. OOPS.
