Re: Bus #2... saved and with a new home

It was the paint. I used "XO Rust" from Coast Hardware. It wrinkled up like you wouldn't believe. I've spent the last week sanding the roof, then tried a TEST roll of the same paint. Same results. Wrinkles after less than an hour.

I had a quart can of Rustoleum black gloss, and did a test patch next to the bad spot. The result? A perfect shine. Then I rolled the whole upper side. Perfect.

My advice? Stay away from the XO Rust. It's crap.

Of course, today, it RAINED, so we'll see how the finish looks. Anyway, I have the roof rolled. The rest, I think, gets sprayed. I'll post pics when I actually get this thing done.

What IS it about a bus that makes things so HARD?

Incidentally, I have become a MASTER of window tinting. Heads up, folks, this bus is nearly on the road. STAY OFF THE SIDEWALKS!

lol

Re: Bus #2... saved and with a new home

Well, it's been a while since I've posted, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy. The bus is painted (not perfect), and I'm all set for a long winter of "inside work." All I have left to do is get that front bumper tweaked at the local shop in a week or two.

The coast of Washington is the WORST place to paint a bus, but I think I've got the basics taken care of. Behold Bus #2! And pay no attention to that pile of seats in the background. Lies! Lies, I tell you!

Definitely looking good, Wccawa, quite a classy look to it!

Why are all the bus seats I could use always being thrown out on the other side of the country from me?
