Yes, I thought the same thing. It might lose a little strength, but for its purpose, I think it would still be strong enough. Just make sure it has enough friction that it stays folded and doesn't accidentally flip out to where it might do damage. Or maybe a little magnet that holds it out of the way?

as long as air can flow thru the unit it will be fine, and most lower units cab be turned 90 degrees...old ones could atleast

Thanks for the input! yes, the main reason was because it fit so nice between the 4x4 deck frames. i did a bit of looking into it and bansil is correct. as long as air can Circulate in the system it should be fine. The majority are placed facing forward to be more aerodynamic while on the road. I figured since I was going to have a deck on top when complete the unit would be the least of my wind resistance problems Rain could be an issue but after I seal the roof with some Hy-tech and build the deck with rain collectors underneath it Iím crossing my fingers the skoolie gods will smile on the design.
