Hey, Just read through your thread. We got our Vista at about the same time from down in Mesa. I don't know why I haven't been following. I wish I was as far along as you guys. I guess work, kids and a broken ankle slowed thing a bit.

Right on! We are kid-less, which I imagine makes a big difference. No mouths to feed but our own. And we don't mind PB&J if it means more work on the bus
Hope you healed up well, broken ankles are no joke (nurse here). Are you still in Mesa?!

The Desert Sands Update. . .

Photos are about a month + old - so more has been done.
However, electrical is complete, plumbing complete, water pump in (with option for adding water heater later), and the wood stove is in (and working well). Just need to hook propane tank to stovetop... and a few other cosmetic things.

Moving in by the end of the month!

Fart a DPF on a 7.3, blame cali tries to ruin everything. I heard they had DPFs with stand alone controllers for 7.3s, this is the first I've heard of someone having one in real life.
I've got a 04 IC T444E thank God no EGR or DPF.
Half the roadside service calls I take for Volvo trucks is over derate due to DPF nonsense once the trucker gets fed up with only making 15mph.

Def a nice lookin build you got going on there!

Updates 1.5 yrs in

Here are some photos of the bus now, we do not take many, so even these are not up to date. Haven't been extremely mobile yet... We park on property in the meantime, have doubled our savings in one year.

For the winter, to keep heat/insulation, we bought a used billboard, cut it to skirt around the bus and use strong magnets to keep it in place. Year one we used hay bales, which was good looking, but then the hay went all over the yard and we had nothing to use them for - kept some for our compost and garden.

We switched our G stove to a cast iron jotul from the 80s - red enamel; triple walled stove piping.

I was working night shift for a while, so Mikey put in a black out curtain between the bedroom and living space. We put up curtains with copper piping. And we have a dish rack attached next to the sink

We love this life. Many little issues, nothing big yet, have not taken it on a big trip - work ended up changing our plans than what we had initially intended. Happy as ever though!

Good, clean livin'

Maggie and Mikey
