Re: Diesel Dan's Skoolie

Dan, a few months ago a couple friends and I went to visit Glenn when he was still in this area. I drove my bus. I got to see Glenn's bus. My friends and I were treated kindly.

Glenn and his family are wonderful people. His daughters and wife are very musically gifted. It was my little accordion concert that got Zed interested in getting an accordion as well. I suggested one to buy. She is very happy with it.

I am hoping that she played some music for you.

What did they do with the cats?

Re: Diesel Dan's Skoolie

Hey Rudy, I think they found another home for the cats and just brought their little dog Bailey along. Their daughters are very talented, smart and just lovely people. A testament to the benefits of home schooling. Our little jam session was mainly stringed instruments, wind instruments and a keyboard. I think the accordian might have been a bit loud for the setting we were in. My son and I also left our electric guitars and trumpet behind in favor of acoustic guitars. We had a fun evening playing acoustic tunes with a mix of celtic, bluegrass, folk and rock. Good times!

Stylin' new drivier's seat

Hey, what's that? A new driver seat? Oh yeah, and it is sweeeeet! Big thanks to Glenn (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6181&start=90) for hooking me up with the perfect seat. I modified the seat to mate it up to the air-ride base I had from my original school bus seat. It is so comfy, I can't wait to take a long drive to see if it helps with the shoulder pain I've been having when driving more than a couple hours in the bus. It pretty closely matches the grey school bus seats in my dining booth. So now I just need to find some grey fabric for the jack-knife couch and I'll have all matching furniture!

Next project on deck is to build a cabinet for the sound system. So far I've removed the door from the bulkhead and cut away as much metal as I could to open up that space. I probably only took out an inch, but I need every little bit of space I can get. I will eventually get one of those portable stereo systems used off craigslist and stick it up there. For now I have a small boom box. I will also put speakers up there for my 12v car stereo to be used when rolling down the road. I need to run a 120v wire in there to feed the "house" stereo and I will also have a power strip and a charging station for ipods, cell phones, etc.

Man cave

Here I am creating this post - "Hey, wassup y'all?!"

Kali likes the top bunk:

The bunk is in the "up"position. I've got a pulley system to raise the top bunks up when not in use so people can sit on the bottom bunks for extra seating. Also makes for more spacious sleeping on the bottom bunks if the top one's aren't in use.

There is actually a mod for this BBS that will do it if installed - It is called "Thanks for the Post" The text messages just need to be edited after installation to say Like. I have it installed on my BBS http://www.ents-bbs.org

Beach trip

We spent last weekend out at Padre Island on the Texas gulf coast. We had a great time. We stayed at Mustang Island State Park in the RV area.

We headed out Friday evening, and didn't arrive until midnight. I was happy that my new driver's seat was a big improvement in comfort over the original bus seat. No butt soreness at all! I had my mp3 player loaded with great driving tunes. Here I am listening to some Led Zeppelin (Ramble on!):

Saturday morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast...

And then headed out to the beach:

Re: Beach trip

I thought about camping on the beach itself, but my house batteries are getting old and my plumbing isn't hooked up yet, so we went with the RV camping area with 30/50 AMP electric and water. There was a constant ocean breeze and the temps were comfortable so I didn't bother using the AC. The campground was your basic RV parking lot, but it was a beach parking lot! And we had a shaded picnic table and easy walk to the ocean. Bathroom was also decent and had showers with hot water. Overall, it was a great time!
