I posted on this forum last night but my post had not yet been approved by a moderator. I'm working on moving into my bus as soon as this weekend and have a few questions.

I am wondering why my posts wont show up. Also the search is broken.

I understand spam. And I am not spam. I only enjoy eating it.

I have kept up, moderated, and hosted forums in the past. I would never restrict a new person from posting.

I am waiting to hear from you.

There is certainly no intention of keeping new members from posting, it is a matter of the moderators going through 300-600 posts every day and deleting the spam, takes time....That being said, Welcome to the forum.

Hello everyone. I posted last night but it didn't go through. Kind of frustrating.
I will be posting pictures in the next few days. What would you like to see.

Yes it is an Aisa-Smith chassis made by Hyundai Heavy Industries with a 250hp Caterpillar 3208 turbo.
I believe one of ten or less that are still roadworthy in America.

Here is some eye candy until my thread and first post are made viewable. I right click view image to see all the windows. A few are cut off from my view.

As soon as I get carpet I will be staying in the back. I plan to install a hot water heater over a wheel well and a closet opposite.
I am curious about bathroom setups. Am I suppose to split up the shower and toilet, or make a full bath? Also I'm thinking of a circular shower with sliding door.
And take a look at that shiny ceiling. That took some work. And pardon my dusty floor.

In RVs the sewage dump facilities are on the drivers side, and (as a general rule) the toilet goes over the poo (black) tank. What that means (generally) is that the toilet goes on the drivers side, over the black tank. The grey water tank is also drained on the driver's side. Some have a combined tank.

It's your skoolie, you can do what ever you want. There are a lot of
pictures on this site about how people have done theirs. Personally my bathroom and shower is a full width room that you have to pass
through to get to the bedroom. There's just two of us, and we've been sharing a bathroom for a looooong time. If there are rugrats involved
you may want to split things up.
As has been said, it's best to have the toilet directly above the black tank, and have the waste dump on the left side. Only because that's how
most dump stations are set up. The rest of the stuff depends on your plumbing skills.

Good looking unit --- I will "Third" the rec to place the toilet on the driver side. The poo really needs to drop straight down into the black tank which really should be on the driver side. Otherwise you'll wind up dragging many extra feet of especially nasty drain line under the bus or having to go against traffic in the dump station waiting line. They are all set up to accommodate driver-side drains. A shower on the curb side can work fine since there are (usually) no solids that have to make the trip. And you might want to take a look at installing a waterless P-Trap if you go with a curb-side shower. They will prevent sewer gas from backing up through that drain even when out of use for extended periods. Standard P-Traps in RV's are notorious for either drying up or sloshing dry which opens the door to some really nasty smells. I plan on installing them on all my drains, they save space as well.

Waterless p traps have been around for quite a while. We had on one our 1974 Apache pop-up. Great little thing, but vanity/bar sink sized. You can buy just the "bell". I want to put them in the bus. David says no since none of our p-traps will be exposed to cold temps and we have never had any of our traps dry out since we full time. For traveling: drop rubber drain plug into the vanity sink, lock the kitchen sink strainer baskets into the three kitchen sink bowls and the shower pan. We used a kitchen sink drain rather than a standard shower drain because we didn't want to have to reduce from the shower size drain pipe to the 1-1/2 pipe we used as a grey water drain... its just water & soap anyway. PLUS I can close off the shower drain and let a bit of water accumulate in the shower while taking a shower. Makes my aching feet feel better... I stand on COLD concrete floors at work.

BTW, our toilet is a straight drop and on the drivers side the vanity sink & toilet share a waste tank. The shower & kitchen sink are on the opposite side and we ran the drains over to the drivers side. that is also where the grey tank is plumbed. We have a by pass on the grey because we stay mostly on full hookups and it was silly to run the waste water into the grey tank and out the open drain. We always leave the grey open to drain when on full hookups.

The black has a 3" ball valve not a 3" bayonet RV type valve. We don't like the RV valves. We had to rebuild a black valve when it froze one night... in South GA. We swore to never again have one of those crappy things.

Hey Lorna --- I like the ball valve solution. Is yours a standard plumbing type ball valve? And I agree totally that most of the "Special RV Stuff" is cheap crap at way inflated prices. Like you, I'm always looking for non-RV alternatives for anything I need to count on. There's tons of stuff for boats that is far better made. Some of it pricey but at least you get what you pay for. Especially the stuff that is Coast Guard Approved.

Though I don't think RV blade style valves are the best, they do have some advantages. One is that the distances between the flanges is small, so if you have a compact installation they fit. Another is that parts are available just about anywhere.

On a big ball valve, particularly on sewage stuff, you would want to install the valve in a sturdy mount; because you might have to reef on the valve handle, due to friction and gunk on the ball. Blade valves are more prone to leakage. A plug valve might be the best, but it would probably cost the most.

Anyway, I used RV valves, but that's just me.

Well I have decided not to use a p-trap in my sink and shower.
My bathroom faucet and shower will drain into a bucket.
The kitchen sink will drain into a separate bucket.
As for the smell and pests, I plan to use a rubber plugs in the sinks and shower.

The commode is a Pro Flo low flow toilet. It will drain into a 15gallon blue roll around septic tank.
Which periodically I will empty into A nearby septic tank. As for piping it to the nearby septic tank,
there are elevation problems. I plan to empty every 10 flushes. I may keep a ledger for the guests.
The tenth flush has to empty it.
