Flat face FE bus noise

How noisy are front engine flat face buses while going down the road?
Are they noisier than doghouse buses?

Very noisy. Dog nosed buses are considerably quieter.

It's like strapping a rocket to your ass and flying down the freeway. The increase in noise from 55 mph to 65 mph is probably double. You are sitting on top of the engine.

GE, remember that cool bus we saw in Pulaski? I saw it yesterday not more than a half mile from my house when fueling up my van.

Re: Flat face FE bus noise

When I pulled out I saw the back end in front of me. As I got closer I saw the radiator hanging off the back end. I pulled over behind the bus because two ladies were walking back. Turns out they weren't with the bus and it pulled off. I wanted to talk to the driver but didn't feel like chasing him down. It was definitely that same bus.

Re: Flat face FE bus noise

Its def. Loud a lot. Louder with seats removed.
I told my buddy to bring earplugs or his mp3player....almost reminds me of old deuce and a halfs with the windows up....you def. Have to "raise" your voice to talk.
I hope to insulate the stair well this weekend...I threw a couple old tarps with a open sleeping bag in that area last weekend...big difference in noise....; just couldn't open the door w/o shiat falling out clampit style

Re: Flat face FE bus noise

I added some 1" foam with a barium loaded vinyl center onto the doghouse of my old Blue Bird and it made a huge difference. And that was with a Detroit 6v53 "Screamer".
