Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project

I checked mine last night in the dark and you are absolutely correct. Using the lens from the top lights will produce a light with a center dot and a ring around the outside. I will need to find a pair of proper red tail light lenses for my bus.

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project

LOL. Don't ask me how I notice stupid things like that. I think maybe because I have a fetish with flashing lights.

This is what my front yard looked like until my neighbors made a stink with the town and hired an attorney to pick apart the bylaws and eventually I had to take everything down. Not to mention the civil case they had against me because of this.

I've had mixed opinions whether or not certain people I know would be able to live next door to this.

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project

The pictures are not that great because I took pictures of existing pictures. My scanner is not working.

All the signals you see, functioned from real traffic signal controllers that are used on the streets!

I bet you didn't know that Railroad Crossing Signals operate on 12VDC!! This dates back to the 30's.

If you notice I have a battery jump pack operating it!

Anyway, just another hobby of mine.

BUSBOZO,

Your lights are truely unbielivable! Gives some of us (me) inspiration to be a little different than the rest of the herd.

(Of course this thread has run off its track )

I figured it will cost around $150 to replace all my existing tail lights with LED ones. Not a bad price considering.

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project

That is about what I figured to replace four 7" red tail lights. About $40 per light. I also tried to put the sealed beam bulb from the top behind my reverse lights...works good except I didn't have enough depth with the inner wall skin in place so I had to change them back. Next year when I redo the interior I may make allowance for this.

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project

$150 is a good price for changing over all of them. We have some nice ones at work that are made by "Diallight" and I asked the parts guy how much he gets them for and he said $80 bucks EACH! WOW!! And these would replace the brake and directional lights. But that is crazy money!

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project

Really looking nice.

I went to your site and laughed out loud when I read this:
"There is not much more to do. The main thing that needs to be done is the installation of the black water and grey water tanks."

I found the installation of the tanks to be quite a challenge. Fabricating brackets to fit the available space and keep the tanks secure, finding places to run plumbing under the bus, lining up vents and drains from inside to underneath, all pretty challenging compared to the other things I've worked on in the bus.

In retrospect there are many things I could have done to make it easier (mostly with floor planning) but I'm glad that it's done now for sure.

Your interior really looks fantastic. You've done a great job so far and I'm sure you'll continue in like vein. Keep up the great work.

AMEN to that! GN what is your plan as far as the black and grey tank capacity is concerned? What tanks are you going with?

look at what i did to my tail light and the led light i got used so it was not as bad as getting them new but i was trying to keep the look i had with my old lights cause i do not like the way the led bus tail lights look like, and they want to darn much for them!!i just need to finish them and get them back on. when i can get more the roof light are next on the list cause haft of them don't work now.

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project

Thanks for the comments!

The floors we used were a manufactured hardwood (Hardwood on top, plywood underneath). We glued them down and nailed the edges where the trim would cover the nail holes.

I ran the floor side to side so that it would be easier to put down. Laying short runs is a lot easier then a long run.
