Thanks!
It is hard for me to believe that we are actually close to being finished with the project.

The place under the loft has plenty of room to stand in. I suspect that there is maybe a total of 7' clearance under the loft. Total height with the roof raised is probably around 10'. That would be a tall roof raise for a bus.
How tall is your roof raise Smitty?

I went 18". Things didn't "work" as I'd initially planned, since I wanted a flat ceiling from side to side (which would have required an additional 6" (for the interior height I needed since I'm tall, for a total of 24" raise). However, I'm glad it didn't since it gave me the opportunity to resolve the problem which I did by vaulting the ceiling. That gave me additional ceiling height, with less exterior height. I have 6'9" of interior height, with an 11' overall height from ground to highest point on the center of the bus roof (which is not including the roof deck framing).

What was your floor to ceiling height before your raise?

I made and installed removable screens for the 3 pop up vents in the bus:

Opinions Needed...
I need some opinions from all you skoolie lovers out there.
This was kind of a last minute decision but we decided to go ahead and panel the rear windows with metal.
I had previously taken out the glass and painted the backs of it to give it a dark tint look.
It turned out looking great but we noticed when the sun hit that glass it really got hot and would heat that rear storage area that we have. There was also the risk of the windows leaking.
Here is a pic of how it looks now:
Now I am torn as to what color scheme I should do on the back. I need the readers of this forum and our blog to help us decide.
I have posted some of the simple schemes that we have come up with. Please just comment on here or on the blog as to what scheme you like best. If you come up with a simple design idea please email it to us.
Thanks!

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project
I think plain red and white is too bland. My first choice is not pictured, It is a variation on the original look. I would paint red where the bottom door window was, plus paint black on the top three window blanks surrounded by the white. My second choice is "The Wave."

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project
The Red & White seems most sensible in that it addresses the excess heat issue. Painting black is just inviting more heat; although I'm sure you have insulated. With the Red & White option, I agree it's a bit plain, but if you have anything you want to put on the side windows, like stickers, or lettering, or some other design, the white windows would provide a good background for something like that. Plus it would be easy to change your mind later and paint over the white.

Very good point! So far most of the feedback leans towards the Red & White scheme.

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project
Or, if you wanted to be really "out there" with your ministry thing, you could do something like this:
Sorry it's a little crude in it's execution, but you get the idea: sort of a divine sun shining on a cross on the mountain theme. Seems like it would be do-able even if you aren't very artistic. My bus will have a sort of environmental theme, so I'm hoping to do some mural-like painting on mine, more along the lines of trees, earth, sky, etc.

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project
Good news, Its not a big deal, but just wanted to let you know the amber directional lights in the rear have the wrong style lense. Those are for the upper amber warning lights and are designed for the sealed beam bulbs not your typical directional bulb.
If you look at your brake light lense and your directional lense, you will see a difference. The brake light style lense is what you need in the amber color.
If you turn on your 4 way (hazard) flashers and have someone step on the brake, you will notice a big difference in the way the light projects in the amber and brake light lense.
The current amber lense when lit will only show a small lighted dot in the middle and a lighted ring around the edge. The brake light lense will be entirely lit up solid.
Not a big deal. But in the daylight it might be hard to see the directional flashing from behind.

Re: Good News Bus Conversion Project
I am probably going to change out all the rear lights with LED lights. That should fix the problem.
