Re: Great White Buffalo - 92 BB All American RE
Another quick update:
I dig the glass tiles as a little back splash.
The galley
Passenger side, behind the seat. The solid fuel stove will be in this area. On the counter.
Need I say more.
Removing the surface rust.
High gloss Ace "Rust Stop" paint.
"Aircraft Remover" made the decal removal so much easier.

Re: Great White Buffalo - 92 BB All American RE
woodwork looks great. they make zip ties that have a hole on the end for attaching electric wires to whatever.. i used them on mine whilst running elect wires at the same height yours are. and drywall screws will screw right in to the metal.. also, an rv door would easily fit in your front door opening with a bit of furring out the framework.. if you wanted to do that. i have put 2 rv doors in mine. one is for the generator.. which is in what was the front step area. i can slide the window up in the door so the onanski gen can run cooler...

Re: Great White Buffalo - 92 BB All American RE
I just spent a very enjoyable time going through your complete build to date. It is hard to believe anyone could do that much work in so little time. I really like the interior--it is so clean and modern looking. A really great job!
You say that you are just about to move in--will you travel? Use your SKOOLIE as a stationary residence? What?
To other SKOOLIES, if you haven't read this complete thread you ought to. Much can be learned.

Ryan-
You have done a fantastic job!
It looks great. You have done the conversion how a full conversion should be done. I love the tile work, the cabinetry, and the incorporation of the rounded ceiling into the cabinets. It looks similar to how the streamline and airstream trailers had their cabinetes meshing with the rounded or dmed ceiling.
Great color choice.
be sure to post up those "finished" pics when you get there

Thanks. I'm really just making up this wood work stuff as I go. No skills at all, just a little luck. I have looked at changing the door. First it was cutting down one of the wood doors like I have inside the bus. Then it was an RV style door furred out but I could not find one with a nice big window that we liked. Third idea was to reverse some hinges and weld the current door solid. I'm fine with any of the door combos as long as it has a ton of window. I just love the full length window right now. Downside of my combo right now would be security. There just really does not seem to be a good way to lock the door solid.
The door is either going to be replaced or reversed and welded solid eventually. Maybe after the first of the year.

Thanks ol trunt.
Truth be told, I've had a little help here and there. Mainly the tile and a the wood sheeting. The wife has helped a bunch also, especially in the beginning with the tear out phase. It has been a fun ride thought. For sure. Now that things are visually coming together it is just awesome.
As far as our plan for the bus..... here goes:
Basically the wife and I can't seem to stay in one place for very long. We live a very frugal lifestyle with our "cost of living" being very low in today's standards. So for the last 3 years we've been back in our hometown with a plan to sell everything, build a mobile apartment and get on the road. And that is what we've done. (fyi we're not interdependently wealthy and right now the wife is working while I'm on the bus 100%)
Our original plan was for 4ish years but it looks like it will be right at 5 before we take off in August. (It took us about 9 months to figure out what we wanted to try and live in) We bought and sold a few of the incorrect vehicles before finally settling on the bus.
So to answer your question... travel and stationary residence would be correct. A little of both depending on where the wind blows us.
I'm glad you have enjoyed the build thread.

Thanks John.
I did find the round ceiling cabinet inspiration from an airstream. It just made sense for our application. The final color choices were of the wifes doing. We both like the color blue and as you can tell, the wife covered that color rather completly.
I will most certainly post up more pictures as things progress.

Thanks.
Yes I was dreading that task also. It ended up being a lot worse in my head than in reality. Funny thing how that works.

Re: Great White Buffalo - 92 BB All American RE
Syke,
What did you do to the eyebrows above the windows on the outside? The latest pictures look like they're gone. Did you fabricate some sort of new drip rail? Mine are gone, but I'm thinking of some sort of full length drip rail above the new windows.

Re: Great White Buffalo - 92 BB All American RE
I ran a piece of roofing drip edge. It was brown in color from Home Depot. 1 1/2" or 2", I don't remember. It is riveted to the original eye brows. I still need to figure out a good way to terminate the ends to keep it water proof. I might bend up some light ga aluminum and rivet it like a cap piece. Let the caulking do the rest.
