Handicapped Skooli Advice

Hi my name is Alice. i been wanting to do a Skooli since i was 21. I'm now 31 and wanting to do it finally. thing is I'm now in a wheel chair and have a cane. i can get in and out with the cane, as well as drive. but can any one recommend me a way to transport the chair on a full sized traditional styled skooli??? well shy of buying a small enclosed trailer from Lowe's??? ty in advance.

Re: Handicapped Skooli Advice

There are a lot of full size school buses available that have wheel chair lifts already installed. If not that I would think that there are many lifts that people who didn't need them and took them out are laying around. When I was looking for a bus, there seemed to be one or two that had lifts. Good luck hunting.

What he said. I think it would be easy to find a bus with the lift already installed. It seems that most that I have seen are more in the mid-size range, but there were some 40 footers. If you have the lift available, it should be easy to wire it so it can be operated while you are on the lift.

Re: Handicapped Skooli Advice

Guess I'm a bit late in responding to this one. Winter does that here, I don't tend to keep up with skoolie.net this time of year for one reason, that bus is not on my mind.

Check out my gallery below, I have made a few changes since taking these pics but for the most part it still looks the same. My friend needs the lift to get in. She tried to get in once after being able to walk off but couldn't get the feet high enough up the steps.
