You smoke to much and forget things? Sorry been there done that?
LKQ pick your parts is an automotive junk yard where if they have your part you take your butt and your tools there and go remove it yourself unless the vehicle isn't watertight? Then they pull the seats/uprhostery to save and be able to sell them.
No pun intended!
You can pull it yourself or you can pay someone to pull it for you?
Your choice?

the LKQ here in columbus ohio is a pretty clean operation... they do a decent job of remiving fluids, sucking out freon, etc to keep the yard in decent shape to work.

The van had a rust hole in the roof behind the fold out sofa. That hole let in all kinds of water into the insulation, causing the interior to mold. The van was totaled out by the insurance company and sold to the yard to part out.

I got the seats and seat belts for $20 each, plus got some nice cabin lights for the interior for wifie to do reading, researching, or whatever she wants while we're going down the road.

Tomorrow I'm working on the window blanks to paint and install. Pics to follow.

Well, I took pics today, but I'm having trouble uploading them from my phone (I HATE "smart" phones).

I've learned quite a bit from toady's installation of the blank today between wife's office and the dinette area.

First, drill holes smaller than the head of the screws I'm using to allow for some play. Screw holes are not consistent distances on HF.

Second, getting the upper lip to successfully slip in between the roof and ribs is a bit tricky and tough but doable.

Third, there's quite a bit of preparing to do before installing the blanks. Pre-drilling holes, priming the blank, testing the fit, using red thread locker to secure the screws, and on and on and on.....

However, I'm that much closer to getting insulation, heat, and A/C going.

Pics as soon as I can get them out of this phone....

Just picked up $650 of wiring yesterday. I'm rewiring everything but the engine harness. My good friend and fellow hammy radio operator (W5AD) is helping me BIG TIME with this project now. All new wiring before spray foaming the interior. We're simplifying before replacing what needs to be replaced. Got a 12 slot utility box from Lowes for $40, SCORE! More to follow.

I'm looking for a reliable photograph hosting site so I can more easily upload the TONS of pics I have of Heavy right now. It's frustrating with the site not uploading my pics.

Anyways, today I'm getting the genny from Sears in Katy that's on sale until Friday. It's a 5K set for $500 with a Briggs & Stratton engine and a Kubota? if I remember correctly generator. 2 year warranty. Plenty of time to test it out. It's 30 amps, so no using the full sized dryer at all. Wifie understands this. We can keep the fridge, computers, lights, and A/C on so long as we keep track of what we're using and when. Peak watts is 6250. Next big items are a water heater and the alcohol stove. That should wrap up the big purchases.

We're aiming for a move-in date for summer next year! WoHOO!!!!!

TWO years AHEAD of schedule (incredible). But with ten years of experience I know how construction goes............

Good luck with all the wiring. Good preventative maintenance on your part. That generator will be a big help. I went with 3500kw Champion for my construction phase. Plan is to go with an 6k Onan once we move aboard.

Hey M --- sounds like you are really making some progress. Way to go. Try to run the electrical in a way that you can add/fix later without having to rip anything out. But it sounds like you have qualified help so it should go smoothly.

I don't use photo bucket to host my photos, hate all the advertising. I use an app called "Tapatalk" they host any photos I post. I also use Google Drive and share the links. jmo

Hey all,

Got one of the heavy blanks up with the help of my wife and son. It took us about three hours from start to finish. I have pics, but too tired to post.

More when I get back from my Galveston run.

Got three windows done with one blank! I feel good, but tired.

Congrats M, Can't wait to see the pics. I completely understand the tired feeling. I was working in my bus for 8 hours today and it was a hot one. I'm beat.

Trying to post pics again. Will this frustration ever end? I guess not.

So here are the links to the pics. Someone more technically advanced can post them on my thread better than I can. So here it goes:

Here's a pic of Heavy with the blanks on the driver's side of the master bedroom, one without the window installed and the other with the window:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/145078...posted-public/

https://www.flickr.com/photos/145078...posted-public/

One pic of the back with the rear blank, the side blanks with the master bedroom window installed:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/145078...posted-public/

I can't believe I'm having such frustrations posting pics.

Sorry for the inconvenience of clicking on the links.
