Hello from PA! Starting the conversion on 'Cousin Eddie', our '00 International

Hello all and thanks for having us! Ive been a lurker for quite some time now, but as of about two weeks ago we finally have acquired our dream home, a 2000 International AmTran flat nose, rear engine, with a DT466 and MD3060 6 speed allison auto, and 4 under storage bays! New tires and rust free! Was a southern bus up until just a few years ago.

We've been gutting our leaky 2000 Fleetwood prowler camper over the last few months for some essentials, man, thats saving us some serious coin!

Here she is before we picked her up. Took a nice 3 hour ride to get home, but she pulled 70mph no problem with that 6 speed and 22.5" tires! Also cruise control didnt hurt.

Got the seats out in a few hours with the help of a few pals and an angle grinder and impact wrench. Man, that 60k propane hot dog really cooks it out in there! Dont worry, I always ventilate.

Our plan was to stage it so we could do the enhanced inspection, then tear it out and build while we waited the two months for the plate and title.

Welp. Drop 30" on her and shes stuck there for a few weeks till it melts, as Im in an alley and need every inch to sneak her out. So tonight Im going to take out the little kitchen I built and start tearing up the floors. We at least want a nice floor so the kiddo can crawl around while were working.

Staged a nice little kitchen island with 5 of the 7 things needed, fridge, water, sink/faucet, 120v/inverter, and a stove.

Also we registered her as a station wagon for the time being, as our city will tow/ticket anything without valid plates, even on private property.

Cruise control? That makes it easier to sleep, right? I've heard you can put it on cruise control, then go back and make yourself a cup of coffee.

That big white thing is hardly noticeable in the snow.

Looking good! I have the same set up, I love how quite the bus is and how much space there is around the engine.

Let me know how that staged kitchen works, I would like to do the same thing.

Where in PA are you?

UGH, this floor has me feeling defeated. School buses were really not built to be dismantled. Ive got a plethora of new tools to go at it with tonight, wish me luck!

Its great, people say a dognose has so much more room to work on. Ive worked on a ford dognose and this bus, and honestly in my opinion theres more room inside my back doors to move around and get at everything. Also its warm and out of the rain!

And thanks everyone for the welcomes and good words!
