help needed
I am presently working with Zane Kesey (Ken Kesey's son). We were talking about my new bus project, I'm in the first stages of building a 1949 International Harvester KB7 (the same model as furthur). The plan is to replicate as close as we can Kesey’s bus. “Furthur East” should be a lot of fun to build and soon the east coast will start seeing Furthur at the shows along with a few pranksters who will probibly be using it for official buisness.
Is there anyone out there who knows where to find a 1949 KB7 bus or truck or parts?
We also need 1939 parts for the old woodstock bus that is parked in the woods on Keseys farm to help with the restoration of that bus.

Who was kesey?
Ken Kesey was a writer and a Marry prankster, Het put together "the electric koolaid acid test and a bus called Further. His son, Zane, still runs the website http://www.intrepidtrips.com.
You should check out the bus on the website.

Furthur East!
Very cool about the project on the remake of the orig. Furthur bus. I lived in Portland, OR last year for 8 mo. and the 2nd Furthur and Merry Pranksters came up for a book tour! Awesome!!!
I too would like to promote Ken's vision on the east coast. I live in Fla. but am selling my little cottage to buy, hopefully, a diesel mini skoolie (if one exists) to convert into a liveable home on wheels and educational vehicle. I want to make it into a veggie bus and promote alternative energy.
I would appreciate any info you may have on how feasable my dream is and any links I might go to to get busy working towards a more conscious and FUN world.
peace, Mindy

Man, that looks like such a ...... project!
I'm not sure that I could wish that much fun on myself all at once, otherwise I'd be jealous.
Good luck!

ah the further bus! we didn't last a day in oregan without a reference to kessey. it would be neat to get some pictures of the original further on this site. is that possible? that and the electric mayhem bus, both monumental buses, both ridiculously hard to find pictures of.

This guy has 10 of them and knows everything about them.
He has restored about 3.
(All of his are tractors, not buses...but he knows a LOT about them and has many many parts. If nothing else, he can tell you where to find stuff.)
Hope this helps you.

A lot of the old Diamond T's share the same cabs.
All of the front ends and engine stuff too.

The origanal Further is in the woods behind the cook house on the othere side of the pond on Keseys farm. The second further was in L.A. this weekend but is kept in the "bus barn" on the same farm.

Do you have any photos of the original? Even tho it's probably sad, it would be good to see it again..
