Re: How to lock them doors!

does anyone know where to get one of these super strong magnets and if they are strong enough to keep someone from pushing hard on the door and it opening?

I'm not sure about an electromagnet, but for regular magnets, I've found Gaussboys to be cheap and fast delivery-wise.

If you have any questions as to how powerful these magnets can be, check out their 'crazy pics' page!

Re: How to lock them doors!

Awhile back someone posted a pic. of their electric back door lock, does anyone remember who that was or where the pictures may be found? The pic I am looking for is of a solenoid mounted inside the bus on the back wall.

Re: How to lock them doors!

The problem with padlocks is, they ony work on the outside, so if you stop at a truck stop or Wallies for the night, you can't really lock the inside... unless you put another hasp on the inside. And then you've got the added problem of a fast exit in case of fire or other emergency. I just don't think padlocks are the best idea. The very first thing I did on my Bus was to remove the double swing doors and replace it with something else...

Humm... Not with my paddle lock setup

Someone else mentioned the "how do i get out in a hurry" issue with a paddlelock a while ago, that's why I made the video.

Re: How to lock them doors!

Well, the average 'house' door is 1 1/2 to 2" in thickness ...

If the bus door is -thinner- than this it could be an issue ... Unless you could just install the lock in the body and run the bolt into the door instead?

I'm still in negotiations for my bus, so I'm not sure how these measurements coincide with the bus reality ...

Yep! Well ... So long as you can fit the slide bolt and 'works' inside the door ...

That thought crossed my mind, but if someone wants into a bus bad enough no lock will stop them... after all my bus has 48 side windows, 2 windshields, and 4 back windows that could be "access points" if someone wanted in bad enough. Like the saying goes "locks only keep honest people honest"

Great idea! I hate that big bar opener on the back door anyway.
