i may have found my bus

i found these busses last week,i will be going to look at them this weekend,im thinking one of the first two,any imput you guys+gals have would be great!




I have several school buses for sale that are still in service!
unit 170 and 167

2-1992 Blue Birds 78 student/53 adult school bus
5.9 Cummins Diesel Engine
Allison Transmission
Drive Line Retarder working on both units
Air Brakes
Air Door
rear air suspension
Air Ride Drivers Seat
both have around 195,000 miles on them

Will sell one for 3,900.00 or take both for 7,500.00!

We also have two 1994 Thomas School Buses one with a wheel chair lift that holds 75 student and the other holds 81 students.
Units 9443 and 9446
.5.9 Cummins Diesel Engine

Blue Bird's chassis & body are much better built. All else being equal, I'd pay a little more for a Bird.

I dunno, I like the Thomas because its interior is screwed together instead of rivets..lol

Another vote for the Thomas. It is also easier to skin the windows with results that looks better. Also, be sure to measure interior height.

Find out which Allison transmissions they have and post that here. Take the one you like best for a drive and see how fast it goes. They're all better buses than the one I have. The only thing I wouldn't care for is the air operated door, and that's easy to fix.

i have a 1991 Ford B700 with a Carpenter body 40ft
171,000 miles
Air brakes
Eaton 5-speed trans
It had very little rust
i paid $1,600
I say keep looking and you might find cheeper

I have a 93 Genesis 25' with a dta360 and an Allison... Only 97,000 miles and paid $1000... You can find better deals than those out there...

thanks for the input guys...yea a little spendy, but also in my state(about a half hour away)....im hoping for the 645 tranny,i have the 545 in my work truck now,it isnt bad but it is a pig!(22.000 pounds )but,it been 13 years without a rebuild....driven in colorado EVERY DAY! hopefully sunday i will test drive....today was devoted to my 13 year old daughter,she was in a DI competion and it took all day! took 2nd place out of 9 teams,good times had by all
now back to the bus!......jeff

Ya, the 545's are tough as nails, but real fuel hogs. The new gen Allisons with full lock-up can save a bundle in diesel. I have a perfectly good 545 that came with my Cummins 4BTAA that I am going to swap out for a newer 5 or 6 speed with serious OD.

yes i want to buy the right bus second time(the last bus was gas with a 4 sp man. city bus...55 top speed max,sucked in va and md,pa) i live in colorado now and the passes are at 12.000 and, hills everywhere,it would kill my last bus im looking to make a full timer out of it,if i can get the right lenth and,the right engine ,driveline combo all else can be delt with i found this bus sales place in co but they are very spendy!

didnt get to test drive on sunday .....they were closed on sun and,had nobody that could meet me there....if its ment to be the bus will wait
on a side note i did a little checking on my work truck.....looks like 349.xxx miles on that allison 545 with no rebuild...wow....its a 1991 with a 6.1 ford in front of it....engine has been rebuilt about 70.000 or so ago.....cold mornings it looks like its on fire but clears up....no racecar for sure!
