I want to convert aluminum body shuttle or bus?

Love this forum,

I want to convert a shuttle or bus that has an aluminum body, or partly aluminum. I will be near salty water a lot and I don't want it to rust away. I would go fiberglass but was hoping for aluminum first. Do you know any shuttles or buses that consists of this type of body?

Thank you so much,
Rick

The Eldorado Aerotech shuttles have well built fiberglass bodies that laugh at salty air, but all shuttles have a steel frame that will rust.

Fiberglass will handle salty conditions much better than aluminum which is HIGHLY reactive to salt.

Thank you both for your replies. I'll check out the Eldorado, and how is aluminum highly reactive to salt, I thought it's immune to it? Thanks!

Aluminum doesn't rust but it does corrode.

Good article here. Aluminum issues typically involve pitting where salt is concerned but there are other considerations as well. Most common & destructive being improper use of dissimilar metals which basically forms a battery through electrolysis. Living on the Gulf Coast I have seen a lot of both.
