nope, i have yet to start the spinner project. I would like to get that done before burningman.

I just got back from the trip. I had a bit of difficulty finding suitable veggie oil. I went to about 20 different places before i found one with good oil. That was kind of a drag, but i had plenty of time and not much money so it was worth the trouble.

I got in my first bus accident while on the trip to traverse city and back. On the way home, there was construction on I-75 with very narrow lanes. I thought to myself as a giant motorhome passed "wow, that guy is really close" I actually moved over onto the barely-existant shoulder to make some more space. Less than a minute later, a travel trailer came zooming by about 15 mph faster than my skoolie. All of the sudden I hear BANG BANG BANG BANG and i can't see out of either of my driver side mirrors. I think the mirrors caught on the poles that hold the awning on the travel trailer. The guy pulling the trailer never slowed down, i'm not sure he even knew that he hit me. I pulled off at the next exit and re-adjusted my mirrors. Neither were broke, luckily they're break-away mirrors.

I heard you have air conditioning now; care to share how you did it?

Sadly, I too have joined the dark side! I did install an a/c unit in my bus. I"m leaving for the desert of Nevada in three weeks!

The front side windows on my bus are larger than the rest. I found the biggest window a/c unit i've ever seen and put it in that window. It's an ~18,000 btu, 220 volt monster. I mounted it on a slight angle so the water would run out the back even if the bus was just slightly off center when i park.

I have yet to test it on a hot day. Since i installed it, haven't had any temps over the mid 80's. I'll add photo's soon.

I spent the good part of the day working on my new party/cargo roof deck.

I didn't build the deck that i really want to have, but i need the extra space for cargo on my month long trip across the country. I leave a aug 24, time is quickly running out.

With the current price of steel being so incredibly high, i decided to build the entire deck out of wood.

It's 16 feet long, 4 feet wide with 13 inch high railings.

I"ll try post photo's soon

I can't wait to see what it looks like, I was going to put something like that on my roof, but first I need a ladder up the back of the bus, I'm tired of climbing up the front of the bus.

i need a ladder too, I just cracked my windshield while climbing from the hood onto the roof!

ugggggg!

I found a shop to replace it for about $175. I was so angry with myself. I"m leaving for a monthlong trip cross country in less than a week and would rather not have had to spend the money.

i'm taking the bus in first thing tomorrow to get the new piece of glass

photo's of the building process for the fast and cheap party deck:

Using self tapping screws i fastened the 2x4's directly to the roof of the bus. The beams that cross the bus near the rivets are very solid.

I have to wait for daylight so I can take some photo's of the deck with the bright yellow paint. It looks pretty good atop the bus.

Total price? Lumber + screws + paint = ~$100.00

full size photo's of the project are in my phot galleryhttp://www.skoolie.net/gallery2/Jacuzzi-Bus?page=9

That does look better than I was expecting, and as a bonus it should keep your roof quite a bit cooler.

I just returned home from almost a month long trip across the country in my skoolie. I logged about 7,000 miles total. I"ll tell you all about eventually!
