i'm at work today and forgot my card reader at home so photos will have to wait....
Got a lot done yesterday.
ground off the rivets on the cieling panel and easily removed that piece of sheet metal.
then on a whim we decided to install the jacuzzi immediately instead of setting up an appointment with crane guy. First We trimmed about 1.5 inches off of the jacuzzi with a cordless dewalt circular saw. We didn't really have the correct tools for the lifting job, but that's never stopped us before. Basically we attached a large clevis to a tree branch about 20 feet off the ground. Then we tied one end of a long piece of rope to the jacuzzi, and the other end through the clevis and back down to the truck.
looked something like this:
It took a while, but nobody got hurt, and we finally got the monster sized jacuzzi installed in the bus. The tollerances between the jacuzzi and the bus walls is almost non-existent. It's a perfect fit. !
photos to come

if anyone nearby wants a jacuzzi, i have 2 more of them on the way for free, and was offered a third for $100
i might try selling them either in the newspaper or on ebay.

I REALLY love the pictures.
You ever considered moving to Minnesota? I could use a bus nut neighbor with a knack for finding stuff on the cheap (like jacuzzis).

Necessity is the mother of all inventions.
If it works, and proper (well mostly proper) safety rules are applied, cant be all wrong.

the owner has already decided that we should close the hole using the stock bus materials to keep the bus as weather tight as possible.

thanks man...how are ya?
here are some new photos. WE've been so busy working we havn't been taking too many photos.
I was kind of nervous about the roof re-assembly. I've never attempted to remove and eventually replace rivets before. We put in 80 percent of the rivets one day with a hand rivet gun. The next day i spent money on a pnumatic rivet gun because my forearms hurt so bad i could barely squeeze the manual one. Whatever the pnumatic rivet gun costs, it's worth it!
You can see she went back together very nicely!
the owner plans to cover the entire ceiling with fabric, so the color isn't important. We sprayed some black paint to fight rust because that's what handy.
the bus is for a group of circus performers, so there are lots of crazy colors involved.
here's the front of the bus:
By early next week the bus should be almost 100% complete if all goes as planned.

hopefully i'll get a chance to post some photos today. The bus is moving along at lightning fast speed.
I wish i would do the electrical in my bus half as nice as i'm doing it in this one!
here's a partial list of what we've done so far:
Got the new 8D battery installed,
installed about a dozen 110 volt outlets
new stereo is in and working
upgrade the interior 12 volt lights with brighter ones,
disassembled the roof
jacuzzi is in, wired, cleaned and it works beautifully
re-assembled the roof
built a jacuzzi cover you can sleep on
5KW generator is mounted and electrical is done
Roof rack is ready to go on
Huge double sink is installed...still waiting to finish plumbing
built a few storage cabinets
1200 watt inverter is installed
futon is in
upholstery is done on the seating that has been installed so far
painted the interior (only from the windows down per client request)
installed 1 big eye bolt per window post to support hammocks
installed grey water tank
jacuzzi heater installed,
installed multiple 12 volt outlets (cigarette lighter type)
what's left???
finish cabinets, including stove
finish building the dinette set that folds into a bed
spare jacuzzi water tanks need to be installed
there are ton's of odd's and ends that need to be finished
interior lighting
there's probably more, the Official List isn't in front of me right now.
we have been working on the bus about 4 days per week, 16 hour days.
a few more days and nearly everything should be done

new photos:
she's not finished yet, but we're getting a lot closer.
visually the project is changing quickly now that we've finished most of the underlying infrastructure. there are hundreds of feet of wire i added to the bus. At least 300 feet of 12 volt wire, well over 100 feet of speaker wire, and who knows how many feet of romex (there are at least 10 110v outlets)....don't even getmy started on plumbing! UGGGG!
i cut my thumb with a razor knife today, so i'm typing really slow....
front looking back
the first sink wasn't big enough, so we got him this full size one
this is our "lazy boy" made from recycled bus seats
this is the down position
reline position
and it folds into a bed
back looking front
front looking back...you can see the cool blue led's we installed

Re: Jacuzzi Bus III
IT IS FINISHED!
The owner and his parents seemed very pleased with the craftmanship. He got his bus last nite, and we got our money. Everyone is happy!
We built this thing in record time with a realatively small budget. If we didn't have to spend time shopping every day i think we could build another bus in 2 weeks.....especially if i was on vacation from my real job.
how exciting!
can't wait for burningman when i can pull my jacuzzi bus up next to his. It'll really blow peoples minds in the middle of the desert with no water, no electricity, and no infrastructure. You can step inside not only one, but two jacuzzi buses.
