Re: La Casita Bus Conversion
Yaaaayyyy!!! This is like X-mas every time!!! Super excited when new parts arrive by mail!! We got:
8 gaskets for the "warning lights",
2 heavy duty wiper blades,
12 clear interior light covers, and 3 reverse lights...
One of the original reverse light was extremely corroded, so we bought a new pair to replace them both. And the other original reverse light that was in good working order + the 3rd reverse light we ordered, will be used as service lights. They will be located at each side of the skoolie, behind the rear wheel. They will assist for reverse curve/sidewalk parking, but will be independently wired from the reverse lights. So, we will be able to activate them with a switch from the driver's control panel.
Here you see the difference a clear lens makes over a beige lens in terms of being translucent. This is very important when boondoking, and relying only on batteries. One lamp with clear lens will be as bright as 3 lamps with beige lenses. Less consumption, longer battery life!

Re: La Casita Bus Conversion
We started installing the privacy film in some of the windows!!! We had no previous experience what-so-ever in installing something like this. We are super happy with the preliminary results!!! It is not that difficult, but very time consuming if you don't have the right tools (a guillotine paper trimmer would have been great to square one corner to 90º).
Here, you can see (2) interior lights ON, and the difference it makes at night in terms of privacy.
Next day:
With the privacy window film, the brightness inside is almost the same than without it. It's way brighter inside than with dark window tint. We are loving it!!
More progress with the privacy window film!!!
Whole right side (including the bottom half of front doors), and top rear windows!
This is how the inside is looking
Even at night, we might not need to turn the lights on to get around in the skoolie! There is plenty of translucence!
Next day:
Only 3 windows to go!!!!
Yoda style:
"Love it, we do!'
Brightness levels lowered inside La Casita by just a tiny bit due to the privacy window film. Totally comfortable with the result.
Before and after privacy window film.
Big difference!! We love the evenly distributed brightness, and no glare from a single point!
And, this is how it looks!!!! WE LOVE IT!!!! IT WORKS SO WELL FOR US!!!!

Another task tackled in the skoolie!
Small, but still important.
The fuel tank compartment lid did not had a secure lock. Today we installed a small key lock.

That's the same film I used on some windows in my home when I lived in Miami. Before the film, the sun would come into the room in great, blinding shafts of light that were bound to fade the upholstery of my furniture. After the film, it was just a fantastic difference, with only a bright glow evenly dispersed around the room. Very easy on the eyes.

Hey, you forgot to do the windshield!
But seriously... is this the stuff that you put on with a film of water, or does it have an adhesive?

Yes!!! When I bought my house back in '08 (before being in a relationship with Lala), I had a company install them. There was big window panes (5'x5') everywhere! I had a really nice experience with them installed.
Now at La Casita, Lala & I really wanted as much natural light as possible, but we wanted privacy. Blinds are not appealing for her, and curtains are not appealing to me. So, I suggested the film, she agreed, and we installed it. We are loving it!
By the way, yesterday we were browsing YouTube for plumbing ideas for La Casita, and came across with 2 videos we really liked, and learned a lot from. We ended up subscribing to the YouTube Channel, we search for the user name on Facebook, we liked his facebook page, and even sent him a message thanking him for the videos and the tips!!!

We installed it by spraying soapy water on both the window pane and the piece of film.
