Thermal breaks make such a huge difference.

I HATE that Perma R crap. We have to buy some more this weekend to do more to the interior walls. Not any choice really here. I'm going to have those lousy Styrofoam beads all over until we get the interior sealed up (soon, soon!). There's just so much static electricity too! Little Styrofoam beads stuck to everything including ME! I will just deal with it (and vacuum a lot). David's got the bedroom and toilet area furred out. The toilet area gets the last of the pink Foamular because it's such a small amount and I intend on using the freebie pegboard we have to cover the sidewall with. I need to buy some pegboard fittings. HD has a set of three baskets that hook into pegboard. I need something to hold our tooth brushes (screwdriver holders), David's electric razor (small basket) and a few things that are currently sitting on the vanity countertop. I need to cut and fit the toilet room insulation today.

Re: El Tortuga...update 01-07-13!

Nope CC, we wanted to keep the ventilation so all windows will lower to the non installed sill pc.
I just needed to insulate the damn microwave ovens called "black windows" even at 19* the sun hitting the blacked out windows was hot as heck.
Since we both hate or loathe...nagh we hate cold weather the warming effect will be so not missed in the other. 8 months.

Re: El Tortuga...update 01-07-13!

Added loose insulation and then filled in with 4 pc of poly crap(back wall gets really hot/cold being single layer sheetmetal

covered with 3/8 plywood

I forgot to take pics of the installed verticle pcs to match the bottoms of the bunks and got first coat of poly on them

Also scraped off paint for natural light, will cover in very heavy curtains

Re: El Tortuga...update 01-14-13!

Your heavy drape idea will help a lot. For those times when you still want light try covering the window opening with a piece of clear polyvinylchloride (thin version of convertable window material) secured by the magnetic strips found in old frig door seals. This provides a nice thick layer of trapped air and slows heat loss/gain. Jack

Re: El Tortuga...update 01-14-13!

spent some time this afternoon in the bus after going to wally world and lowes this morning...and yeah we got between 8-12in of snow last night, luckily we already had 4in of standing water from 4 days of rain to soak up the snow

any ways

I bought some carpet and glue today(didn't really intend to it just happened)

I was comparing some samples from last weekend, when the guy said "you need some help?"

It nasty and snowy and I only need about 4 ft of this 15 foot wide carpet, but I don't want to put it on top on the snow and salt

(we had picked out a color that came in 15 ft width, figured I could get 4 feet and then slice it down the middle and have 2 pc to fit all 4 walls in the bedroom.)

The guy at lowes said "hell I can cut it 2ft wide and we can roll it short side, so it can be put in your truck and not on top with snow"
okay cool...he said since it's a new roll he would cut it alittle long for me so it will be square,
So I needed 22.50 in and he cut it at 32-ish.

He went to roll out next 2 ft and there was a dirty spot about 18in dia at the end, i pointed it out and he said "can you use whats left on that 2 feet?" I said if it's cheap

he smiled "well...I cant sell that"...so 7 feet or so later(i havent measured it yet) I had my 2 pc of carpet that equaled 4 feet!!!!!

some glue; a cheap trowel and I was on the road

first pc cutting to fit...exactly what in the hell is best way to cut this crap?new razor, so so pulls yarn.Kitchen shears(dont tell Lisa)..my hand is sore and sooo,sooo....a combo of both seems to work best.

first pc up

some more

pic of look im going for

glue

check out wrapped price since it was "damaged" it got it cheap $6 a foot normally about $12 a foot

.........24 dollars almost a steal,but I paid for it

more tommorow

Thumbnails...this is new to me...but bandwidth friendly..if I did it right

Sharp razor, cut thru the jute backing from the backside of the carpet using a progressive "sawing" method. Use scissors to cut the "stringy" stuff (looks like plastic ribbons). Change blades often. This is the method that I have found that works best for me. I dislike cutting carpet! I don't care much for carpet either. I'm going with Commercial Tiles on the rubber floor once we finish the interior.

Then I'm going to put some floor runner carpet down as "throw away" rugs. When they get too dirty, I throw them away. HD has some "binder" material that you glue to the cut edges for a finished edge (kept next to the rolls of cut-to-length carpet runners).

Re: El Tortuga...update 01-18-13

busy working on the bus this weekend
I got the bikes mounted inside

mounted a tv also,I had to modify bracket to allow acess to the plugs and also mounted a 3rd bolt to secure it

worked on the back walls so we can lean on them etc
still need to poly them tho'

Still need to make a dust cover for tv and then a velcro strap to hold it against wall when traveling

One should always eat right and drink plenty of fluids when engaging in outdoor exercise (or indoor for that matter)
