Many style points for creative use of toilet flanges.

The lights are a classy touch.

That looks like a great idea for mounting and venting the A/C. But how will the water be kept out when you are driving down the road in the rain? The light cover cutouts look vulnerable to this.

Re: La Tortuga...update 05-26-13 (front ac install)

if that and to much air off front are an Issue I will put upside down "eyebrows" under the lights

I don't think it will be that much of an issue, with the 90* upturn and screen over holes...we shall see

Damn! I have been worried about that exact problem in anticipation of changing my fuel filter! I'll probably wait until I'm ready to do my veggie oil conversion before dealing with that, since I will be opening the system anyways at that time. I am planning on installing a 12v fuel pump inline near the diesel tank during that process, just for the purpose of priming the system.

Are your guy's filters upside down? I used to drive a straight truck with a 5.9 cummins that had the filters upside down, what a pain in the ass. Had to prime it every time I changed the filter unless I was fast enough and willing to dump diesel EVERYWHERE. My bus is a piece of cake to change the filters. Just prefill them and you're good to go.

I have used starting fluid (ether) to get mine cranking over long enough to purge the air.

you have to be very careful and sparing with the use of it. AND Disable any electric heat as this can blow you up for sure.

Good luck.

Sure is fun I remember

Re: La Tortuga...update 05-26-13 (front ac install)

Well last weekend on the way home, on uphill pulls as boost would build you would "feel" it run out of fuel, so I

would make a run on flat ground and slowly let off as we climbed the hills back home

First thing we said fuel filter, so on friday I drained the wter seperator on the filter and found this

some water and dirt

so while waiting for the filter to come home I drained about 2 gallons out of the tank and it was very

clean...surprised, maybe a 1/8 inch of water in a 5 gallon bucket

The filter on the other hand was full of crap, this was also the lowest I have let the tank get

so hopefully this week I will get her running.

I decided to service the air filter

okay guys...really?

yes zipties...OMFG

also the aluminum tube was crushed and siliconed...scary stupid shiat

two minutes later.....yes two minutes!!!

ya'll heard the 3 hour saga after Lisa got home with the filter so;

I said screw it and loaded up the kayak trailer in the AM, 3hours later the truck was loaded up, coolers, cot's

blankets pillows food drinks etc..........

I told Lisa "this last three hours is why I bought a bus...so we dont have to pack and unpack every trip"

at river

At this point we had to go where we were "camping"

through the woods

[/URL]

over the dales

more woods....no I never saw little red riding hood........did see various rednecks on different wheeled contraptions

tho

we are here

no electricity yet,but an awesome view and a grill that worked great

and our bedroom for the night (we used bubble foil to protect the gorgeous chestnut floors)

on the way home next day we checked out a few camp grounds and such...and found a new winery!!!!!

Jones Von Drehle vineyards and winery

7 year old vines, they have been open for 3 weeks now, wine was good can't wait for there "real reds" to come out in a

few months

beatiful vineyards behind the truck

tasting room

next time

La Tortuga will be sitting on the side of the river.....
