Start with a black and white exterior paint job....and just let it morph inside

Actually, I have to remember Tennesee not Georgia. We spent about 6 months in the neighbouring town to Bansil back during the winter of 2007-2008.The Mountain City in Georgia is on Hwy 441 between Clayton, GA and Franklin, NC. Its a speed trap so be careful if driving thru there. I lived in Franklin and surrounding areas from 1965-2009.
Black Rock Mountain State Park is in Mtn City, GA.

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!
Its been awhile for updates
I am trying to get out of dodge for a few days, so I had to button some stuff up
I wired up outside light and a co pilot light
This is co pilot panel
Gizmo wanted in so she climbed the ladder and was yelling at me
Installed some old gun hangers as towel hooks
Installed a roof vent to exhaust the ac air
See the fan?
Here it is after removing because it didn’t move enough air out
I replaced it with a 9 inch high velocity unit that really works
I foam tapped the side inlets
I needed a drain pan etc, and still will finish this ones we see how much condensation we will get out of the air
Ground down flush
Under size sealed, still needs to be finished
Installed an aux fuse box for outside leds and co pilots led, cb and scanner etc
Broken factory sun visor
30 seconds later with a cut off wheel
And mounted
Deployed
Buttoned up good enough for camp trip
And last item

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!
Cleaned up the bus today, I have the fridge stocked with beer and food, so I decorated some
This is a picture turn of century (last one )?
That shows the train in Elkin NC
A local artist who’s parents own the winery down town Elkin, made copies and when you bought the B&O red; you got a print
So I found some old plaid material and a $2 goodwill frame and walla!
Mounted in bus
]
Next picture should be a riverside shot

You've been busy!
Gizmo cracks me up. Typical cat, though. A door is what a cat is always on the wrong side of.

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!
How did you hang your picture? I've got a painting (acrylic on stretched canvas) and a good sized lithograph (Gainesville GA Grist Mill) that I need to hang. I've been looking at the french cleats and using two per picture. Once framed up and all, they get kinda heavy. So I'm a little leery of what some RVers use to hold up their pictures (3M contact strips).

Bansil, nice job on the refinements. Take the cat along. Take the camera along--and most importantly have fun on your camp out. Jack

With overkill
I predrilled the frame on all sides and then used 1-1/2 drywall screws into 2x4’s on top/bottom and door side.
The far right just has the screws into the 1/8 backer(for looks it goes with our whole “look”)
And after the last 80 miles to the campground on very twisty, tight and crappy roads nothing broke I was kinda leery of the glass figured I would need tempered….so far so good

It’s starting out good, here she is parked at her first “formal” event, I think we have had atleast ½ the s & s crowd through on tours so far
I know of 2 scheduled for today
The campground will be swamped today and saturday

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!
Thanks 100mpg!
just gave 2 more tours....people walk up because the doors open and they knock....blah,blagh,blagh...and then most actually say "that's ours over there"
me "cool"
"this is more fun tho'!"
and they all have legitimate smiles on their faces
back to reading my book "Queen of the road" picked it up at a 2nd hand store...highly recommend it, I'm about half way through it

Charge a couple bucks for admission. It'll pay for your space. Bus looks good.

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!
I got a day off to just work on the bus...we are taking the parents(mine) to the dam for the 4th so they were complaining about it's to hot etc....they don't know we are taking the bus yet
so i rigged up a quick solar panel to run the 500watt invertor and two .86 watt fans and the fridge for a few hours without killing the "aux" battery.
80 watts and in full sun I should see a true 4.5 amps to the batteries
attached hinges
morningstar 12/8 controller (two sided tape)
throw wire out window
hookup battery (also aux)
open hatch, pop emergency hatch and open and set on the roof
turned for better sun
THIS IS ONLY A TEMP SETUP TO GET BY ON THE 4TH

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!
I got hungry so i broke out the black crockpot
1 pound velveta (dont use 2% it's gross) diced to melt easier
1 pound of sausage (we use the sausage we can every year)
1 can of rotella tomotoes
and some scoops or something to eat it with
first put in tomatoes (do not drain)
dice up cheese
add sausage(cook etc if raw and drain excess fat and make sure its "mushed"
perfect size
let simmer to melt and mix it together
See:
served to cool
next

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!
while waiting for the dip to heatup, I decided to finally fix the damn passenger mirror that vibrated like crazy due to...well just crappy bus mechanics
I cut off the old stretched and weak rivets(mount was about 1/8 away from body)
and went to install some SS bolts I had.....crap I was by myself and couldn't find any vice grips
so I rigged up some stuff to hold the bolt head
It doesn't move now...yeehaw!!!!
I mounted a seatbelt to the original chair wall, still have one more to do tommorrow
I made a sticker at some time today
