I'm betting by looking at the great pics you post that you are probably the only bus that can wear out a corkscrew!

see the guy on the dinosaur??he's the cooker
serious note, all it is; a cast iron burner from northern tool($20) with 3 air shields leaning against the base(i sheared several different sizes of air guards at work, also work as shims for level.(been using for years)
we also use a couple $9 700watt electric eyes from dollar store (been using them for years also)
fanciest pc we have is the rotisserie oven/convection oven/1200 watt toaster oven....it was free from mom, she upgraded/downsized...it is perfect for bread, pizza and cornish hens
never used the grill this trip..weird....
when I do the deck, I will have smoker mounted....so we can do pork bbq...thus making everyone "hate" the bus at campground
new color scheme has really grown on me...there are 145+ campers here...they are all the same color...everyone loves our "turd in a punch bowl" standout rig

Re: La Tortuga...updated 08-31-14
geewhiz man, the pic make the cooker look better................................... im thinking the same thing as you on the rear deck having embedded smoker and a sunken fish fryer / crawfish boiler also. but, i gotta finish the rest of the bus first. if i build the rear deck now, all i will want to do is eat and drink.

WE prefer to cook our seafood ourselves. But then we also think our cooking beats any restaurant we can afford to eat at too!
When we spent the winter down in Corpus Christi, we thought we could get seafood fresh off the docks (like gulf shrimp). WRONG! Locals told us that all the seafood is contracted in Corpus by corporations or restaurants. It's spoken for before it ever gets to the docks. Bummer. So for seafood, we either ate at one of the Chinese restuarants (they had lots of seafood) or places like the Boiling Pot.
So when we move to the Gulf Coast (somewhere), Das Mel & David can go surf fishing and I will teach Das Mel how to clean the fish, then she can clean and I will cook! I'm hoping we can make friends with someone that will sell us shrimp at a poor man's price. I LURVE SHRIMPS!

Re: La Tortuga...updated 08-31-14
May I just say, the Tortuga theme is great! I work as a desert tortoise monitor (not with my bus unfortunately) and am inspired to put an animal crossing sign in place of the stop sign too! It looks so fetching.
I can definitely see the love you have for your bus, and your cooking looks yummy too. I need to make some Winslow wine glasses and step up my game hahaha!
Keep on, keeping' on!

Re: La Tortuga...updated 09-20-14
Gee, I'm glad I'm not in TN/NC mountains right now! Nice thing about the snow in Elizabethton was that it was dry, not wet like what we were used to in Whitwell (TN) and Franklin (NC).

Sucks that you're getting snow already, but better you than me. Roachie's all winterized and parked for the winter - hopefully this winter's not as interesting as last year.
