Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!

Thanks 100mpg!

just gave 2 more tours....people walk up because the doors open and they knock....blah,blagh,blagh...and then most actually say "that's ours over there"

me "cool"

"this is more fun tho'!"

and they all have legitimate smiles on their faces

back to reading my book "Queen of the road" picked it up at a 2nd hand store...highly recommend it, I'm about half way through it

Charge a couple bucks for admission. It'll pay for your space. Bus looks good.

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!

I got a day off to just work on the bus...we are taking the parents(mine) to the dam for the 4th so they were complaining about it's to hot etc....they don't know we are taking the bus yet

so i rigged up a quick solar panel to run the 500watt invertor and two .86 watt fans and the fridge for a few hours without killing the "aux" battery.

80 watts and in full sun I should see a true 4.5 amps to the batteries

attached hinges

morningstar 12/8 controller (two sided tape)

throw wire out window

hookup battery (also aux)

open hatch, pop emergency hatch and open and set on the roof

turned for better sun

THIS IS ONLY A TEMP SETUP TO GET BY ON THE 4TH

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!

I got hungry so i broke out the black crockpot

1 pound velveta (dont use 2% it's gross) diced to melt easier

1 pound of sausage (we use the sausage we can every year)

1 can of rotella tomotoes

and some scoops or something to eat it with

first put in tomatoes (do not drain)

dice up cheese

add sausage(cook etc if raw and drain excess fat and make sure its "mushed"

perfect size

let simmer to melt and mix it together

See:

served to cool

next

Re: La Tortuga...update 06-09-13 she starts!!!!!!

while waiting for the dip to heatup, I decided to finally fix the damn passenger mirror that vibrated like crazy due to...well just crappy bus mechanics

I cut off the old stretched and weak rivets(mount was about 1/8 away from body)

and went to install some SS bolts I had.....crap I was by myself and couldn't find any vice grips

so I rigged up some stuff to hold the bolt head

It doesn't move now...yeehaw!!!!

I mounted a seatbelt to the original chair wall, still have one more to do tommorrow

I made a sticker at some time today

Re: La Tortuga...updated 06-29-13

nice solar setup! did you hook a meter to it to see how many amps you are getting in full sun and indirect light? BTW the crock pot food looks great
