I added some water hysteria and parrot feather, along with ten .38 gold fishes from wally world...5 or 6 have died and still have 8 fishes

wally world employee can't count I guess, we have gotten so much rain I have to empty it every couple of days or so...

I need to work on bus...I have ignored her all summer

We used to do a similar thing. We'd go to the lumber yard and beg for their scrap cutoffs. Then we'd nail the pieces together to make boats and set them off way upstream in the creek that ran through town. We'd throw rocks on one side and the other to guide them down the creek. It'd take all day. Oh the joys of pre-videogame human existence.

Great job on the metal work, by the way. Doin' the utility kind of stuff on mine but can't wait until I get to the inside to get to the fun.

Employee: I dunno, 3 gazinta 4, 6 times with 38 left over, right?

A big problem you'll have with the fish in that system is the zinc from the galvanized tub. Zinc and copper are toxic to fish. Been keeping tilapia for over 12 years. Don't ask me how I know it's toxic. Suffice it to say I killed over 200 fish in the 1-1/2lb. range once due to zinc toxicity.

Cool,thanks for advice
This is/was more of an experiment for when I do my pond later

I haven't checked pH or anything and they have been shocked by mother nature at least 3 times with all the rain we have gotten, keep having to empty about 3 gallons of water out

The rain has been your saving grace. A phrase you might want to remember when doing any kind of aquaculture: "The solution to pollution is dilution". That being said, keep away from uncoated zinc and copper when it comes to aquatic creatures and everyone will be happier in the end.

Very interesting. Is this a hobby or business. Maybe you can start a thread about it.

Actually both. If you google my name Travis W, Hughey you'll find I started the whole Barrel-ponics craze concerning aquaponics. My systems, and variations of it, are built all over the world even 10 years later. I raise tilapia here by the thousands and sell fingerlings by the hundreds. I also have a retail product called My Aqua Farm after giving away the information on how to build an aquaponics system yourself with the Barrel-Ponics manual.
Not sure though how the whole aquaponics thing really fits into the skoolie thing but I have entertained using a skoolie converted to a rolling greenhouse to demonstrate aquaponics.
Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack a thread or anything like that.

Sorry Bansil but curiosity got the better of me. I think I may have come across your site before. A buddy of mine used a IBC tote and was raising Tilapia.

If you are OK with it I would like to move this to a new thread.

Looking good! I've seen another bus with the front AC done that way. I have been trying to find the build thread since I really liked the design. Keep up the good work and take lots of Pics!
