Re: La Tortuga...updated 08-26-13

Looks as easy as angle to the floor...will see what gets done this weekend

I still gotta get power into the bus less redneck than throwing the 50 pound anaconda out the window, and the duct taping the 1-1/2 opening closed

Re: La Tortuga...updated 08-26-13

Disclaimer:
I know what I made was a dangerous cable (we know and understand this)

Is this to any kind of spec?hell no...people shouldn't be messing with stuff that isn't there's

so why did I do this you ask?

Because I could not find any 50 amp twist lock or other flush mount male plugs locally, i will order one and redo this this winter(maybe)

so now that that is done and out of the way

pilot hole for the this

use this

to make hole bigger

install recepticle

open sign; then open this

plugged in...the 50 amp cord actually goes straight down

and then made this up, just in case some idiot wants to help me

I see a jungle theme going here with all the animal print, But the color seems to be off on my monitor. I guess it needs adjusting.

NOPE...wife loves her pink so I let her do the front of the bus....I will move the "old" curtains (normal cheetah print) to the bedroom area

Bedroom area is basically my decorating and the front 2/3 is her's

That photo looks perfectly in focus to me--but then I didn't get to help with those wine bottles. Darn! Jack

You are a better man than me! But fortunately my wife has no interest in decorating, so I'm off the hook.

I guess most of us have some kind of skeleton(s) in our electrical closet. I'll only say this: Anderson PowerPole connectors, which I first became acquainted with in ham radio circles, are actually UL listed for AC power usage too.
The smallest of them (PP15/30/45) have contacts available for up to 45 amp 600 volt AC/DC use (carrying, but not interrupting -- use a switch to interrupt); amperage ratings go up substantially higher in the larger-bodied lines. These include the type commonly used for battery packs on electric forklifts etc. Anyway.. they're a nice, compact, genderless connector with shroud on both sides to avoid the possibility of hot blades sitting exposed to direct contact (though the larger models may be big enough that a person, especially a child, might theoretically poke a finger into the opening). They're convenient and affordable for applications like yours where you have a single-purpose cord that doesn't need a conventional NEMA connector because it isn't intended to connect with anything else.

You are a wise man

Also, it took me half a sec to realize why what you did was dangerous, lol...then I visualized the cable.
