Latest trip

Took the skoolie to PA over Turkey Day holiday. 3800 miles thru blizzards and ice storms. Bus performed beautifully. Prior to trip upgraded fuel torque plate for 85 hp increase. Boost and EGT gauge. Installed new 8.5kw generator and 30k btu furnace. Family watched Walking Dead marathon via slingbox the whole time. Great fun and great experience. If your thinking about doing it, go for it!!!

Ok so I think we need hp increase. Would that help the bus get up a hill? What is a "fuel torque plate for 85 hp increase"? I think to own a Skoolie you need to be a good mechanic and I am not.

We are going from Florida to Wyoming for the Summer. I slows to 45 mph going up a FL hill!

What are your bus specs? Size, engine, trans?
A torque plate is inside the fuel injector pump. A few things need to be considered and planned for before modifying a Diesel engines performance.
My bus has an 8.3L Cummins with Allison MT643 trans. A modest 85 hp upgrade has made all the difference in the world with respect to power on climbs and towing. The bus used to look at a hill and slow down.
I am able to monitor boost and EGT so I don't start damaging things internally in the engine. More details of you want but there is a ton of info online on this subject.

Be careful, your transmission is rated to 250hp.
