Re: 1974 Model 05 Silver Eagle
everyone with your oem yellow paintjobs have it easy whebn u paint your bus!! My whole bus had never been painted..as it had new caps front and rear..and new steel over windows etc. I had to sand that thing for a week.. then apply self etch primer. .. that means dragging the air compressor out from under the bus, setting up the paint gun..etc.... then paint self etch primer on the bare surfaces and rivets, tapi9ng **** off windows and stuff ..then completly sand all the self etch down... then I must have taken the bus to the car wash about 5 times now... so there's that to... oh and I just starteed applying 2k primer today. Got half the bus done! I am sore.
oh and i need to move the bus every 2 days so i dont get towed!

Re: 1974 Model 05 Silver Eagle
I live next to the volunteer fire dept, and they even cut up cars, set off fireworks, and have loud parties in the parking lot.. which isnt on their property...
Last week it was raining hard, so they didn't have their regular monday night meeting...
You could easily paint your bus next to their property.. i have painted excavavators and cats and backhoes right next to their building....

well i always say, someone lives somewhere, and there's always someone who will have a problem with my protocol to get **** done. I have a bus that needs to be painted, and until someone shows me a law saying u can not spray paint a vehicle on the road, I need to keep shooting.

Folks paint on the road all the time. They apparently tend to only use white paint or yellow paint. Sometimes they will use black... I think they need to use more colours!

It is the flying paint you have to be aware of. If it lands on somebody else's property or car you will be in trouble real fast!. And is illegal to dump ANYTHING but rainwater in the drain storms countrywide.

If he waited to paint until he got to Roswell, the paint wouldn't make it to the bus! Too much wind!

If 22mph is windy then you don't want to come to KS. That's a nice breeze here.

Chadluk, I admire your tenacity and 'git 'er done' mentality. You can paint on my road anytime and I don't give a rats patootie if overspray gets on my stuff or if you have to pour a gallon of leftover in the gutter. P.S. I have a 55 gallon barrel of Johnson wax if you need some.

Re: 1974 Model 05 Silver Eagle
Basically it has to do with the EPA regulations and what ever is there. Most automotive paints now days are water based due to this and the "volatiles" that they hated.
The point could have been made with these idiot is what about all the pollutants from vehicles and what ever that run off the road bed into the storm drains?
What they were doing was trying to scared you off. If you were not rinsing off the bus and it was going into the drian they can take their fire hose and do an un natural thing with it.. They are not a Law Enforcement agency and can't "arrest" you.
This is the main reason why I left the Land of Fruit s and nuts..

yes well they told me how it contributes to holes in the ozone...etc. but didn't say I violated any laws..they just said how it shouldn't be done. but i don't know how a paint booth would be different.those filter are to remove debris in the air and fumes.. but it can't stop the volatiles you describe. infact after you paint the paint can't be waxed for 30 days because it continues to " breath" and release fumes. so i dont see how painting in a booth is going to be healthy for the enviroment

Be careful. It's supposed to warm up after this cold front passed thru. The high roads (I40 Gallup west to state line) are iced already. And the front isn't supposed to clear out until Thursday AM.
BTW, BBQ joint across from Sam's is hiring. WM is hiring PT. Saw the signage yesterday.
