Mountain Laurel - 1991 International 3800
Greetings all!
My girlfriend and I are now the proud owners of a 1991 International 3800. I flew to Fort Meyers, Florida on Friday afternoon and made the trek back to North Carolina on Saturday. I must say, I was initially pretty terrified as I’ve never done anything of the sort, but the twelve-hour trip went really well. Before I knew it, I was cruising down the interstate at 70 mph.
Here she is before I set off homeward!
She’s equipped with a DT360 and an AT500, so I was pretty worried that she would be underpowered on the highway. No worries, she cruised just fine at 65 mph and sat right around 2400 rpm. Climbing into the mountains was quite a different story.
We’re really excited to get started as soon as the Thanksgiving holiday has passed. In the meantime, we’ll be daydreaming about all the possibilities!
Stay tuned.

This is an excellent bus to start out with. I wish I could have afforded one like this. But I'm more than happy with mine!
I've been at it every day with this bus. The seats and rivets are maddening and monotonous!

Nice, looks rust free. Where did you buy her from? A dealer or private?

Brakes
Hello,
We are looking at the same model/year school bus..
Was curious about the driver license stipulations due to the type of brakes.
Does your bus have air brakes?
We know that in our state, certain vehicles with air brakes weighing over 26,000 lbs requires a CDL, but it's confusing because it seems to depend on what 'type' of vehicle you register it as.
Any info you have on that would be a huge help!
Thank you!

If the bus is registered as an RV no CDL or endorsements are required to drive your bus in the US.
