Mounting Solar Panels on the roof

I am planning to permanently mount solar panels flat on the front part of my skoolie's roof.

Does anyone have an tips on securing them down?
Should I just bolt them down into the roof/ribs?
Should I use some type of shock absorbing grommets?
Should I build a special mounting bracket to raise them off the roof top?

Any advice is appreciated.

Welcome !

The Search function on this site isn't the best, so they added that google option above. It appears Google has a better index of Skoolie.net than the internal search function does.

They need to be raised off the roof for circulation.

All good links above.

You may be well served to install mounts that allow the panels to be tilted toward the sun. Another thing to consider is which side or end you plan to use as your main entry exit. I know this sounds crazy but there are different buses out there with different entry areas. This could affect mounting and running wiring. You'll want your wiring at short as possible to keep voltage losses low.

How to search skoolie.net

The best way to search skoolie.net is to type in your searchbar: "site:skoolie.net solar roof rack"

That'll allow you to search through all of the various threads on the website. Also, worthwhile to check the solar, electrical section of the forum.
