Had a friend at work record the Thunder bus on take off and running down the road. Turn up the volume and listen to this beast!

Roof Vent #2

I been wanting to get this done and since the weather was crappy today I made it happen. I been wanting an additional vent in the back part of the bus above the bed since it's always a little warmer back there. Now it's in and finally installed the vent cover I had for over a year.......

Looking good Johnny, the vent/fans are something I wish I would have done on our build. You are more brave than I am, the wife might be upset if I start cutting holes in the roof and getting metal shavings everywhere at this point.

Is that possible with the software you have and my old 3 box system? If so, then GAME ON!

Hey Johnny, nice build been following it from the beginning, even hopped on couple of your live casts. Nice job.

We built out a 95 BB TC 2000. Ran it to the Outerbanks and up 77 from SC last August. Ran like a champ. Now we been hitting state parks or interesting spots within a couple hours of home. We live just West of CLE and would like to boondock out your way. Any good spots you recommend?

There are tons of sweet campgrounds in the area like Geneva on the Lake State Park, Pymatuning Lake State Parks, Indian Creek campground, and more with lots of attractions and entertainment. There are also a few places you could boondock at like a few of the 19 covered bridges in the county, Racoon Park, Conneaut Township park or the docks, The old plaza at I-90 and route 7, Hertzog Rotarty Park, and a few other places you can park with caution as in any booondocking experience. Ashtabula county is a pretty cool place if you like the Lake Effect!

Hi there mr. mullet
I have a bus kinda similar to yours - I watched your video series and am interested in whether you were able to bump up your top speed. I saw you reprogram it in one video. I also have t444e 7.3 with at 545. Just want to go a bit faster so I don’t nuisance others on the highway by going 56 mph.

Top speed on my bus is 65 MPH but with the gearing, I run about 60 MPH so the RPM's are 2400 instead of 2600. Is your bus equipped with a speed limiter? When you are at top speed at 56MPH what is your RPM's?

actually I think so.. we would probably destroy your AT545 though! I would install a pyro first.. when im climbing mountains in mine at full speed ahead I approach or slightly exceed the 1200 degree mark.. people say 1250 all day , and 1400 for up to 5 minutes.. but I ack off the minute mine hits 1200.. my red bus climbs the I-77 mountain in virgina at close to 65 if i want it to.

I don’t mean to be thread jacking, but apparently I can’t start my own build thread yet. Thanks for everything again I’ve been following along with your videos.

I have no fear of my AT545 failing on me, but after consideration, why shorten it's life when I am already happy with the way it is now.

Whoever dash it is in that pic, that bus is maxed out by gearing and not the computer ..

Johnny - honestly I rarely use the power I have in mine. It does come in handy in the city since I use it as a near daily driver, freeway ramps are much nicer when being able to fully be at speed by end of ramp. But on road trips I set the cruise at 65 and itcourrs along.. extra power does allow it to maintain speed on inclines, esp now that I got the trans electronics dialed in. Otherwise my engine load factor sits at 50% or below most all the time and that’s with me being geared too tall.

If your bus is running the way you want it then I say not mess with it.
I also happen to enjoy experimenting with various things in vehicles.. it’s the old hot rodder in me.. always building something ..

Yup. Your gear ratio has you maxed out at that speed.

Johnny - I must say that I really like your bus and your series of informative videos on building it. Lots of great information and awesome ideas to inspire folks. Your rig sounds like a beast and looks great too. Like the 68 Camaro or 65 Mustang of the skoolies. Keep up the great work on your bus and keeping us entertained.
