Preventative Maintenance

I brought the bus into the shop today and changed the transmission fluid, filter, and serviced the rear differential.......

Power Steering Leak

I been trying to find a power steering leak since the bus has been losing a quart every 100 miles or so. I thought it was the steering box at first, but it turns out to be a poppet on the side of the gear box. Went through some old boxes at the shop and could not find one so I welded it. After welding it I reinstalled it and no more leaks!

Car Show!

So a friend of mine came to my Geo Metro meet and told me that since he came to my car show, I need to bring the bus to his friend's car show called Fatman's Invasion at Thompson Raceway. This is a laid back "Bring what you got" car show and drag races. We took the bus and as we were entering the gates I could hear the announcer on the loudspeaker say........

"We even have school busses coming in the gate!"

We parked in a central location, locked the bus up and watched some drag racing for about an hour. After that we went back to the bus, put a few signs up and let over 100 people come and tour the bus conversion. Everyone loved the bus and once word got around we had a line of people waiting to see it. Here are some pics..........

Roof Painted

I parked the bus next to our deck so I could easily access the roof. I used a bottle of full strength purple power, a scrub brush, and a water hose. This roof was so damn dirty! After I scrubbed it clean, I wet sanded it and washed it again. I let it dry for 4-5 hours and then rolled on the oil based silver/gray paint. It actually turned out better than I thought it would.....

Are you going to paint the whole thing silver? I like the blacked-out grille and headlight surrounds.

I want to paint all the yellow and change it to silver. I have one gallon of silver left. I did the grille and headlight buckets a few days ago and like how they look.

Got some paint work done today and then a damn storm rolled in! I sure hope the paint survives this. Pics coming up in a little while.
