My new bus

Hi guys/jails

I am new to this board, I been reading the board for a year now and decided to get a bus, I bought a 1991 International Blue Bird 72 passengers 7.3 diesel from my wife's friend who just retired for $1000 and delivered to my door, it is in good shape, a bit of rust on the side and back.

Now the conversion begins.

Re: My new bus

A suggestion from someone who had a rusty bus:

Get aggressive with the rust right away. Check the rub rails and the rear especially. I fought rust for 2 years straight, never curing it. But, I was reactive rather than proactive with the rust. Congrats on the find!

I agree! Cut it out completely & replace the metal... You will be happy in the long run when it doesn't reappear!

Ah you are a lucky guy... I would love to be in a metal shop again. I worked in street rod shops for a while & a great friend of mine who owns his own shop is a metal master IMO. I love to learn from him & watch him work his magic on 100K + customs!

Re: My new bus

I'm lucky, my brother in-law asked me to come work for him over a year ago, I replaced a master welder with over 40 years experience, he taught me a lot of good tricks, he was old school, I picked his brain a lot. We make ss filters, I think my bus will have a lot of stainless LOL

I uploaded some pics to my album http://www.skoolie.net/gallery2/v/Sk.../franklussier/
