Need help identifying these lights...

Took out our instrument cluster awhile back. Went to reinstall it and found these two little lights but can't recall what they are. They're on twist mounts but there is nowhere on the cluster that seems like the right place to install them. I'm apparently overlooking something.

The wires seem to run to a relay but they aren't the turn indicators. Those are integral in the cluster

Our bus is a 98 Carpenter/International

Anyone have a clue for me?

Thanks!

My guess is they would be idiot lights that slip into a warning hole somewhere on your dash.

they probably plug into the back of a gauge for lighting up the speedo or fuel gauge at night.

Right, that was my first thought, but all those seem to be covered by lights installed directly in the back of the cluster.

You see, stuff like this is why I don't take my gauge cluster out. Something bad always happens when I mess with electrical.

They are some sort of instrument or gauge light.
Do they come on when you turn on the headlights? If they don't the first time, change one of the bulbs and try again. Eliminate the most probable thing and work to the less likely.

I don't have much choice, mine is cracked in 3 places and being held together with tape.
I am going to attempt to build my own dash... But that will be one of the "finishing touches"

Ha! Right? If mine hadn't needed resoldering I totally would have left it alone. Plus, there were a number of burned out bulbs, so I went ahead and replaced all of them

They don't come on with the headlights and don't look burned out, but wouldn't hurt to try a new bulb. Thanks

Yeah, and even a used one is ridiculously expensive

Hmm. I know in my bus when I cycle the key to on, all the idiot lights come on.
Is it possible they are some sort of light to alert you that a switch or circuit is on? Like a master switch... My bus has 2 masters, one for all the accessories and one for the flashers. They light up when they are on.

So I think they must be for the gear indicator (not 100% certain). They reach that far but no further. Just trying to figure out exactly where to install them. I put the cluster back in and all the instruments are working (yay), but I still have no lights coming on with the headlights. Now I need to track down whether I have a fuse out or a bad connection. I'm still open to ideas. Thanks so far for helping me hone in on the problem.

Alright Turk, oneof the lights came on when I tried to crank it. It probably is telling me that my rear emergency hatch is open. Now I have figure out what hole it goes in.
