Re: new member 1965 chevy
well i didnt get them all on but i think grinding on the bus is easier than posting pics the bus ass pics shows the job done after the door was deleted the hinges and handles were pulled and filled the door was welded shut and the cracks filled the mlower and upper windows were filled with metal panels and bondoed into a conglomeration which made the bus ass! in still not sure what to do here as there4 is some rust to contend to im seeing checker plate a 3by8foot sheet would do nicely how much do you think that is? some shots of the inside with the new floor the control panel beside the seat is a old road sign i put a circular design on it with the wire wheel and clearcoated it same with the piece on the dash thats the front grill stripped and primed it too had 34896 coats of paint on it you can have that seat shortbus i think you will recognise it the compartment is for the propane it was plywood and rotten i used old roofing panels and the grill that was over the heater next to the seat to vent the tanks recycle! getting close to finishing the final stripping but alas it rains again today this weather is quite odd this spring holding up progress......carry on converting! timbuk

Re: new member 1965 chevy
Finaly I got some time to look at your pictures at home. I cant see pictures at work that are on photobucket due to network restrictions, and at home dont have to much time for surfing, need to work on the bus.
How many layers of paint was on that bus? Looks like somebody was very busy with a angle grinder
I'm planing on painting ours in the next couple of weeks.

Re: new member 1965 chevy
ok there she is almost totally stripped and bare metal primed the roof has been coated with a roll on rubber membrane called "inland coating" cut apart a emergency exit door from a school reno and rivetted the piece on the bus ass with 3/16 rivets cheaper than checker plate and has the tank look a bit of rust there but not bad she has a few battle scars but some cheese and some primer coats and she will get the paint i think i will go over the brakes and the susp now repack all the bearings and just go over the whole thing ill take shots of the job for the old skoolers ill put in new brake lines and cylindersetc for piece of mind thanks smitty and good luck with your paint swinada timbuk

Re: new member 1965 chevy
Inland Coating. What made you chose it for the roof of your bus and how do you like it now that it is on the roof? Did the application go well? Any problems or details worth mentioning that you noticed while rolling the material on your roof? Prep work? I still need to do the roof on my bus and I have been planning on a bright white ceramic paint...but I may reconsider depending on what you found with your application of Inland Coating.
