u have to replace the bulb, with a 12 volt, if you have to replace the socket and its cheap and looks good, you can use the wire and cut off the 110 volt plug end and wire it in, make sure know the neg and pos. it will work , just a some time to do it.

you can replace your entire 120v lighting system in your bus with m16 12v bulbs, and the g22 i think 120v screw in base adaptors for these, and the other 120v base adaptors. the adaptors cost less than two bucks, and the bulbs start around 3 bucks or so on eBay. Then, of course one can hook up the solar panel and battery bank system for extremely cheap lighting. That is what i am changing over in mine right now.. all the 110v wiring for the lights has to be changed over of course..and i will only need one kind of bulb for spares.

Small cheap inverter and 110vAC lighting? Those 12vDC screw in bulbs are getting harder to find. The last one we bought (ACE hardware and we had to wait until they came in) cost us about $3.50 for one bulb.

I think it's obscene what they charge for 12vDC stuff. I can hook 110vAC lights (8watt fluorescent tubes) and other stuff up to the $26 750W inverter for 1/2 of what I can buy Thin Lites for. BTW, there are no 12vD fluorescent tubes. They are all the same for 12vDC & 110vAC. I have a pile of them saved from the cheapie 12vDC lites I bought for the Class C. The fixtures started burning out after a few months. I got little brown patches in the ceiling.

You can also go to Home Depot or Lowes, go down the Low voltage landscape lighting aisle and get one of those low voltage lights (not the solar ones but the hardwired ones). Dump the "transformer" box if included and wire it directly to your 12vDC system. A 4W bulb should be plenty if the light is close. We used 7W in the Class C since 2006 and they are still working just fine (my daughter is living in the Class C now). I also put one on the exterior of the Class C to use as a porch light. Gives a nice low light to not trip over anything and locate the door knob without lighting up the whole site. I know very little about LED's but I'm pretty sure that I don't want any, based on what I do know.
Currently the LV landscape ones like I used are running $11. So you would be paying about $11 for the light (if you used the one I linked to), no extra stuff and the replacement bulbs are pretty cheap (4 pk for $4). I have even bought the replacement bulbs in Wal-Mart.

I have less than $64.00 in the 12 110v lights that were converted to 12v 3 led bulbs in my bus. and they are 30,000 life span. We put two in my brothers front room last year, and he has just left them 24/7. I am not quite done changing all mine out, but they work great at night.
