Our 1992 B-700 Bluebird project

Almost finished. Our son is going to live in it in California while he goes to Wyotech in Sacramento. The original plan was for him to take it with him from West Tennessee the last week in September, but we weren't finished yet so new plan is to make a road trip next week to take it to him. Conversion has 90 gallon fw tank, 40 gallon bw tank,60 gallon gw tank all made from 1/16" aluminum - lots of frustrating aluminum welding. Kitchen has 8' countertop with double bowl ss sink, 4-burner range and refrigerator with freezer. Kitchen table seats 4 and there is a couch behind that. There is a 20 gallon 120v water heater under the counter and a 6-gallon rv propane heater underneath in the skirt area. Rv 20,000 btu heater and rooftop a/c unit, with ventilation fan blowing down through the floor under the bed in rear. 36" pre-fab shower and regular toilet right behind the wheel wells. From that point on back there is a bedroom with a double size mattress. Storage under the bed accessed through the back door. Electrical is currently 30A rv style cord set with 100A panel with 6 breakers. Convertible to 50A 240v by just changing the cord set. Lighting circuit and refrigerator circuit have transfer switches for inverter power on the road. Propane system has 60 gallon dot approved tank underneath with 2-stage regulator down to 11" wc pressure for the appliances. We stripped the interior down to the bare sheet metal floor and painted with red oxide primer before we put down the wood laminate floor. Rear has 1/4" osb underlayment glued and screwed down with carpet over that. Bulkheads are 3/4" plywood 32 " wide-center passage is 26" so refrigerator and range will be removable without removing structure. Whew, it's been a long 5 weeks along with working full time. I'll post pictures as soon as i can figure out how to resize them.

Re: Our 1992 B-700 Bluebird project

Well, the trip is over. We drove 400 miles a day and it took 6 days. The bus ran flawlessly except for the max speed of 62mph, needs a rear end ratio higher than 4.56. Leaked a little rear axle oil from the right rear-probably damaged the seal when I had to use the tractor to pull the drum off to rebuild the wheel cylinder. Total trip was 2600 miles and it got a little over 10mpg and used a quart of engine oil. Some of the roads (I-40) were terrible for a suspension that absorbs nothing. Dianne could not do computer work because of getting bounced around. Overall we had a good time and did some sightseeing along the way. Found out first hand about snob rv parks-notably KOA. They didn't want any camper more than 10 years old and most certainly didn't want a converted bus. Fuel ranged from $3.00/gallon to $4.50/gallon in the middle of the Mojave desert. I'll try once again to post some pictures...[img][/img]
