Thanks guys. I'll have to look into that hatch! I was just going to cover with sheet meat but that sounds like something worth looking into.

also, i like the steel heat shield look. id like to add a little wall by my wood stove and since it'll be close enough i want to put a piece of that up. is it just regular sheet metal you used or what?

Yeah I forgot what gauge I got maybe 17 stainless. 2 pieces. One has a 90 degree break and high temp silicone between the lip and the other piece to avoid rattling
