Re: Our Farold's Conversion

About a month ago I picked up a 7000 watt Kohler generator from my brother-in-law. I scored it for $200 bucks . This past weekend I ran some new romex into the bus and hooked up the remote start switch. Works great. We had a nice cool weekend with the genny and A/C running

This pick is before I ran the new electrical. I still have to fabricate a cover for the genny. It ended up being too tall to mount under the bus without cutting out the floor. Something I didn't want to do so we just welded a platform to the back bumper of the bus. A quick job but it works. Once I get the cover and get it painted it will look much better.

I left the bus by my father-in-laws. He is a retired painter and he is going to take on the project of painting Farold. I was going to this weekend but the weather didn't cooperate and driving it through the woods would have scratched it cause the paint wouldn't have had time to harden.

WOW! Now thats a real campground clearer outter Just a suggestion but liability issues being what they are you might want to enclose that genny in a fine mesh metal cage of some kind to keep stupid people (and kids) from touching the exhaust or fingering the electrical contacts etc.

Actually it runs pretty quiet. It has a pretty good sized muffler under it that you can't really see in the picture. When you are inside you can hardly hear it and when you are out side it is much quieter than some I have heard run while we were on our trip down to Florida. I do plan to put a metal cover over it to keep the kiddos and stupid people out. and I don't think I will be needing it in any campground as I would assume most that we stay in will have electric hookup.

I still raced my "speed racer" cars......and won

If the Tank book says "enter Tank....feet first....(WTF?)....it's 6 foot to the floor!!!

Nice paint job, how much will he hire out for. There are several of us in the middle of painting our buses.

Oooooh! Nice! I REALLY like that color scheme. Dang, man, I'm considering copying it! Would that be bad form? I do want some dark green on my bus though, so I may just try to find a way to work some brown in there. It's the brown stripe that caught my eye.
